Richard Veenman is a poker player from the Netherlands. He graduated from university with a degree in IT back in 2004, and has been working his way up through the ranks of the industry since 1999. He recently switched to working only part-time hours however, giving him the chance to focus more on his poker game.

He starting playing Magic: The Gathering with friends at age 12, before moving on to poker in around 1997. Years of casual home games followed, but Richard started to take it seriously when the poker boom in his homeland picked up pace in 2006. He’s won big since, earning a living from the cash game tables online at PokerStars, specializing in Limit Hold’em. He currently has his sights set on reaching SuperNova Elite status in the VIP Club, and he’ll be grinding more than ever now that he’s part of poker’s biggest team. He’s only dabbled in the tournament game so far, playing the occasional MTT online, and the World Series Main Event in 2009. He does however claim that he’d love to win a major event like the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) at some point, and plans to compete at more live events in the coming months.

Richard says he lives life to the max, and keeps very active away from poker, going to the gym several times a week, cycling, and playing volleyball on the beach when the weather is hot enough. He also enjoys watching movies and playing video games. Richard is a member of Team Online, and you can find him online playing under the User ID ‘Tzen1’.
