What are you going to be doing one month from today?

If you’re a tournament poker player, you’re going to be doing one of three things on July 17. You might still be playing among the final few tables of the WSOP Main Event, in which case, goodonya. In the other two cases, you’ll have already busted out of the Main Event or have not been playing at all. If either of the latter are true, then you really should be preparing yourself for the kickoff of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s first festival of Season 5.

For the first time ever, the APPT is visiting Melbourne’s Crown Casino, home to the Aussie Millions and Team PokerStars Pro Joe Hachem. The world class poker room and casino is playing host to a 16-day poker festival capped off by a AUD $5,000 main event beginning on July 29.

If you are familiar with the mechanics of a calendar, you should be able to figure out that you can both play in the WSOP and make it to Melbourne in time for the APPT main event. So, if you need a no-brainer, there it is.

APPT President Danny McDonagh said, “The APPT Melbourne has special significance to me as I will be returning to the venue where I started my poker career. Without a doubt Crown is now one of the premier poker tournament venues in the world.”

The Crown is telling us it’s expecting more than 500 players for the event. Even better, the poker room has 70 tables at its disposal, so everyone will get to play Day 1 at the same time.

The Melbourne kickoff of Season 5 is just the beginning of what is expected to be another fantastic APPT tour. Here’s what the schedule looks like right now.
