The biggest stars, the largest field, the most chips.
The third and final Day 1 flight of the 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event had it all.
In the end there were 286 entrants for the day, which eclipsed the 183 and 173 of the first two Day 1 Flights. That number wasn’t quite what everyone was hoping for, but it still brings the total field to 642, which is larger than in 2013 and only a handful short of last year.
This means the prize pool stands at just under $6.5 million and that’s nothing to sneeze at. Registration is also open until the start of Day 2, so there is still time to add a few dollars to the kitty.
The player from Flight 3 who will be liking their chances at picking up a piece of that cash is AJ Antonios
It was a tremendous day at the felt for Antonios as he bagged up a monster stack of 206,200. That is slightly less that Day 1b chip leader Ian Wassell who sets the benchmark with 229,500 going into Day 2.
Antonios has had plenty of success in the Crown Poker Room as he claimed the WSOP APAC bracelet on offer in the $2,200 NLHE Six-Max event just a few months ago.
Some of the others who had successful Day 1’s include Dylan ‘WhiteRabbito’ Honeyman (143,200), Connor Drinan (96,600), recent $25K Challenge champion Alex Trevallion (85,500), Brian Rast (72,800) and Mike Watson (65,000), just to name a few.
A player by the name Phil Ivey also made it through the day.
He bagged up 84,600.
Ivey has had tremendous success at the Aussie Millions including winning the LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge on two occasions. He even made a deep run in the Main Event in 2012, finishing in 12th place.
The first Indian Team PokerStars Pro Aditya Agarwal also made it through the night, ultimately bagging up 55,300.
Agarwal got lucky early in the day, doubling up with Q♥ 10♥ when he flopped trip queens against pocket kings and from there he never looked back.
This is Agarwal’s first major event as a Team Pro and so he will be hoping to make it a successful one and further prove that he deserves to don the red spade.
Agarwal wasn’t the only Team PokerStars Pro in the Flight 3 field as Team Pro Online members Isaac Haxton and Randy Lew were also out there battling for a place on Day 2, along with Japan’s new Team Pro Kosei Ichinose.
Unfortunately of these three only Ichinose survived the night, bagging up 48,800.
Haxton was eliminated during the last level of the night when he couldn’t win a flip with ace-king against pocket nines, while Lew was very unlucky to have his pocket aces cracked by pocket jacks.

All the 150 total players who did survive Day 1c will now join with the 97 from Day 1a and 91 from Day 1b for Wednesday’s Day 2. It kicks off at 12:30pm at which point five 90-minute levels will be played before the players head off to the infamous Aussie Millions ‘Welcome Party’.
