Home / Uncategorized / Aussie Millions Day 1B: Celina poised to steal the spotlight

It’s hard to not get excited when big names pros such as Esfandiari, Antonius, Seidel and Negreanu roll into town and plonk down 25 large to play a poker tournament. It’s also easy to get caught up with the fanfare of the Main Event which consumes most of the Crown Poker Room today.

However the table with the largest rail right now is the feature table where the final table of Event #7 of the Aussie Millions is taking place. That event is a $1,650 No Limit Holdem Bounty Event, and after 257 players duked it out yesterday, just the final eight remain today. This final table holds particular interest for us as Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin is in the thick of the action.

Sitting in Seat 3, looking comfortable and relaxed on a final table with relatively unknown players, Lin is a great chance to grab an Aussie Millions title today. After making it through to the top 32 players to reach the money, and then surviving to the top two on her Shootout table, Lin progressed to the final table as one of the short stacks, but her experience will no doubt shine through this afternoon.

Lin arrived in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, and played one of the early Aussie Millions side events, but since then Lin has been spending time with her family and enjoying the Chinese New Year festivities here in Melbourne.

Lin grew up in Melbourne but now resides in Macau where she has dominated events throughout Asia. She is the only two-time Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon champion in history and is close to the top ten on China’s all time leading tournament money earners list.

Lin also a strong connection with the Crown Casino and the Aussie Millions. Just last year we watched Lin put in a mighty run in the Aussie Millions Main Event before eventually succumbing in 24th place. No doubt she’ll be hungry to not only better that mark in the Main Event, but grab some new jewellery in the Bounty Event this afternoon with the winner receiving a stunning championship gold ring.

With her sister watching all the action, along with the support of fellow Team PokerStars Pro Randy Lew from the rail, we’d love nothing more than to see Lin steal the spotlight on another big day at the Aussie Millions.

[Update: Sadly just minutes after this piece was published, Celina was eliminated in 8th place. Sorry for the jinx!]
