Before the start of play today the Australian Poker Hall of Fame inducted a new member as veteran player by the name Graeme “KiwiG” Putt was recognised for his achievements on and off the felt in this region. The criteria for making the hall of fame in Australia is very similar to the world-wide version of the hall of fame that most poker fans would be familiar with.
This year there was one major difference for the Australian Poker Hall of Fame.
When Joe Hachem addressed the Crown Poker Room on Day 2 of the 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event he said that two players who didn’t quite meet the criteria to be inducted into the hall of fame proper would be honoured as important up and coming players. The criteria that they didn’t meet wasn’t based on their results or contribution to game, it was more specifically related to not being in the industry long enough.
The two players who were honoured were both in today’s field. Both are WSOP gold bracelet winners. One is a women, then other a man. We are talking about Jackie Glazier and Jarred Graham.
Glazier started the day with 23,800 in chips and unfortunately wasn’t able to run it up after being eliminated when she was all in preflop holding A♥ J♥ and couldn’t catch up against an opponent’s pocket eights.
Graham, on the other hand, is still alive and well heading into the dinner break.
For many years Graham has been considered one of Australia’s finest young talents. He has cashed for just under $1 million in tournaments all around the world and even took home a WSOP gold bracelet this past summer. He won Event 31: $1,500 PLO Hi-Lo after defeating a tough final table which included players such as Marco Johnson and Barry Greenstein.
We would also be amiss to mention that Graham is the only Australian poker player to have an online screen to match that of Jonathan “MONSTER DONG” Karamalikis.

Graham currently has around 70,000 in chips and is seated next to former WSOP Main Event 3rd place finisher Jake Balsiger and affable Aussie recreational player Dennis Huntly. Graham recently took a handy pot off Huntly when he called down a couple of bets on a Jâ™ 5♣ K♦ 7â™ 9♣ board with 8♣ 8â™ , which was enough to send Huntly’s cards into the muck. Graham then went on to win another sizable pot off Huntly when he got full value holding J♦ 10♥ on a 6♣ 2♦ 10♣ 4♦ 5â™ board.
One player who knows all about hall of fames in the poker world is Erik Seidel. He’s also here on Day 2 and is even one of the chip leaders heading into the dinner break. He has a stack nearing 200,000 in chips.
Seidel has had huge success in the Aussie Millions in the past. He finished 2nd in the Main Event in 2008, won the $10,000 PLO event in 2010, finished 3rd in the $100,000 Challenge and 1st in the $250,000 Challenge in 2011 and 3rd in the $25,000 Challenge last year.
