Ask the 628 players who have already been eliminated from the 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event how easy it is to go deep in the Aussie Millions Main Event.

I’m sure some of the more confident players may claim it to be easy, but generally speaking, I’m going to go out on a limb and say, no, no it is not easy.

Sorel Mizzi seems to go against that sentiment though.

In fact, he makes it look easy.

Sorel Mizzi seems to love the Aussie Millions Main Event

This year’s Aussie Millions is the fourth time Mizzi has made the final five tables or less.

He has made deep runs three times already. All three of those times were in consecutive years.

The first time Mizzi made it deep in the Aussie Millions Main Event was in 2009. He ended up finishing in 16th place for $65,000. Mizzi then finished 9th in the 2010 Main Event for $130,000. One year later and Mizzi would make the final table and eventually finish in 3rd place, taking home $715,000.

It was an amazing three years of Aussie Millions success.

Mizzi took a couple of years off from making a deep run in 2012 and 2013, but now he’s back at it.

Maybe it will be a case of the fourth time’s a charm for Mizzi.

There are just 40 players remaining and Mizzi is looking like a dominating force yet again. He has a stack nearing seven figures, which put him in the top five or so. Mizzi wrangled many of those chips off John Juanda when the two got into a preflop raising war and eventually it was a five-bet all in from Mizzi holding Q♦ Q♠ and he received a call from Juanda who held J♦ J♣ . It was a safe board for Mizzi and he was up to well over 900,000.

The ravishing caught up with Kristy Arnett to discuss his success at the Aussie Millions.

Another player who knows what it’s like to go deep in the Aussie Millions is Aussie Jeff Rossiter. In fact, Rossiter finished 3rd in the 2011 Main Event – the same one where Mizzi finished 9th. Rossiter isn’t faring quite as well as Mizzi right now, but he’s still healthy with around the average stack.

It’s hard to match Jeff Rossiter’s record over the last couple of years

There is still just over one level remaining in the night, but there is a whisper that the night will end once 36 players remain and a table re-draw is done. Right now prominent professional Scott Seiver is the chip leader and is looking poised for a very deep run. If he takes a leaf out of Sorel Mizzi’s book, this won’t be the last time he finds success at the Aussie Millions.

Be sure to keep checking out the live reports at the top of the Aussie Millions page. There is plenty of action at the final five tables as players like Darren Rabinowitz, Jake Balsiger, Erik Seidel, John Juanda and Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier, Raymond Wu and Jonathan Duhamel are all still alive.
