BLOWOUT BULLETIN

Teun “tinnoemulder” Mulder: Another major triumph for the on-fire Dutchman

Mulder still wants more: What a year it’s been in the career of Teun “tinnoemulder” Mulder. In May, Mulder won the $10K High Roller PKO in SCOOP for $278,785, including bounties. In July, he won a $5K PKO in Stadium Series, worth $134,647, and he was then part of the three-way chop for the WCOOP Main Event, winning another $1.1 million, even though he officially finished third. He might have been excused for winding down over the festive period, but Mulder did nothing of the sort. Instead, last night he won the first $5K High Roller in the new Blowout Series, besting a field of 217 entries to win $211,740. That’s comfortably the biggest prize so far of this series and represents another outstanding achievement from this Dutchman. He continues to burn very, very hot indeed. The overnight chip leader “DuTTiFruTTi9” finished second, for $161,411, with top talents Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins, Niklas “Lena900” Astedt and Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford also making the final, finishing in fifth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Pads paces to top spot: The $109 buy-in Big Blowout!, which had a guaranteed $5 million prize pool, is down to its last 27. From 37,673 entries, everyone left is now guaranteed at least $6,249 for their efforts. All eyes are on the $486K top prize, however, and there’s a huge shark leading the pack. Patrick “pads1161” Leonard has nine million chips more than his closest challenger at the top of the pack, with the British grinder clearly the most experienced online player left in the tournament. That one finishes tonight, streamed live on the PokerStars central Twitch channel.

Markku Koplimaa: Estonia’s No 1

Koplimaa back at it, with countrymen learning fast: It was a great night for Estonian poker, particularly in Event 5, the 6-Max PKO. “oku87” beat a field of 13,337 entries to win the $11 “low” tournament, banking $11,364, only 90 minutes after Markku “markovitsus” Koplimaa won the $1,050 “high” buy-in version. All we know about oku87 is that he or she is a low-stakes tournament player, with a few results across various events, and that this probably represents a breakout triumph. However, Koplimaa is Estonia’s standout talent these days with a recent victory in WCOOP among plenty of other final table appearances in major high buy-in tournaments on PokerStars. This latest triumph added $50,545, including bounties, to his tally, which now stands at close to $9 million across all sites. Pocket Fives ranks him the top player in Estonia, and 31st in the world. Combined with oku87’s victory, that’s domination in the Monday night PKO for Estonia.

Two Day 2s for the returning Arlie

Can Arlie upset the megastars? Both Teun “tinnoemulder” Mulder and Markku “markovitsus” Koplimaa are in the final 56 of the $530 buy-in Event-04-H, which paused at its halfway stage overnight. But so is Arlie “Prince Pablo” Shaban, PokerStars’ Canadian streaming wizard, who will be wearing his heart on his sleeve in characteristic fashion as they play to a winner tonight. Shaban is the car-rental outlet clerk turned heroic Twitch streamer but is yet to record an enormous triumph for his Twitch viewers. But tune in tonight to see if he can rise up from his current 28th place and make a run for the $52,450 first prize. It will be his biggest challenge yet.

COUNTRIES LEADER BOARD

Two overnight titles for players from the Netherlands put the Dutch at the top of the early countries leader board. With Estonia also grabbing two, they move into a tie for second place with Mexico and Brazil, who strangely whiffed on Monday night. Even more strangely, still no victories for Russian players as yet…

3 titles – Netherlands
2 – Brazil, Estonia, Mexico
1 – Argentina, Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, Sweden, UK.
