Home / Events / BSOP Online crushing guarantees, last event and Main finish tonight

The Brazilian Series of Poker Online was one of the highlights over the weekend on PokerStars. It is the first running of BSOP Online, a new online tournament series to which the entire world is invited. And the world has come out to play, too… in big numbers!

Nine of the 11 events have now completed. Later today at 17:00 ET comes the series finale Event No. 11 ($55 NLHE Turbo Wrap-Up). Also left to play out tonight is the final day of Event No. 7, the $215 NLHE Main Event.

There were 2,572 entries in the Main, creating a total prize pool of $514,000 split between the top 431 finishers. That was more than two-and-a-half times the event’s $200,000 guarantee!

But as you’ll see below in a recap of the action so far, that sort of guarantee-crushing been kind of a theme of BSOP Online.

Day 1 (Friday)

After a week’s worth of anticipation, the BSOP Online series kicked off last Friday with three events.

Event No. 1 ($109 NLHE Start-Up) nearly tripled its guarantee with 1,459 entries creating a $145,900 prize pool, way, way, way over the $50K guarantee. “mraink” of Canada won top honors and a $19,570.76 first prize, “petty1997” was Brazil’s best finishing third, with Lincon “Lincownz” Freitas (eighth) and Kelvin “kelvin_FP:AR” Kerber (10th) both going deep as well.

Meanwhile two Brazilians made it to heads-up in Event No. 2 ($82 5-Card PLO 6-Max), with “ptmassis” outlasting “AK_Fauzer_AK” although the latter took away the biggest prize of $4,310.88 after a three-handed deal. Their countrymen Bernardo “bedias” Dias (fourth) and Rodrigo “rportaleoni” Garrido (eighth) were also there near the end in the 389-entry event with a $29,175 prize pool (almost twice the $15K gtd.).

Finally Event No. 3 ($22 NLHE Turbo PKO) saw the Lithuanian “marsius666” win $9,319.67 (including bounties) for topping a huge 4,906-entry field — of course the largest in the BSOP Online’s short history, but also in the long history of the BSOP! Again the guarantee was almost doubled, with the $98,120 prize pool well exceeding the $50K gtd.

Day 2 (Saturday)

There were three more events on Saturday, and three more prize pools rushing way over events’ guarantees.

Portuguese player Rui “Silden4filho” Bouquet, playing from the Netherlands, was the first of three non-Brazilian champs on Saturday after taking down Event No. 4 ($109 PLO 6-Max PKO). Bouquet’s win of $8,019.81 (including bounties) represented the largest share of the $45,900 prize pool, which was well over the $25K gtd.

Event No. 5 ($82 NLHE 6-Max) drew 1,113 entries, from which “RojerBlanco” of Kazakhstan emerged as champ, earning $13,468.34 for the effort. Meanwhile Lucas “Dimenor10” Fauth (sixth) and Ramiro “#LEXUSX88888” Araújo (eighth) each got close to the end. The gtd. was $40K, and the prize pool $83,475.

Rounding out the night was Event No. 6 ($55 NLHE Turbo PKO Win the Button), won by “Muntjescader” of the Netherlands who took away $6,979.27 (including bounties) for besting the 1,108 entry-field, including Brazilian “dholanda283” who took runner-up. The guarantee was $25K, and the prize pool $55,400.

Day 3 (Sunday)

We mentioned the Main Event already, and how 65 players remain. All are still in the running for the $75,238.93 first prize and a BSOP bracelet.

Edson “TsutsumiJr7” Tsutsumi of Brazil will have the chip lead when play recommences at 16:00 ET today, although he’ll have plenty of tough competition returning with him.

Among the formidable foes also returning are Peter “pitaoufmg” Gabriel (in seventh position), Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson (14th), Saulo “sgsabioni” Sabioni (17th), Mario “medmar” Lopez (20th), Nicolau “nicofellow” Villa-Lobos (28th), Hélio “hneves182” Neves (32nd), and Fabiano “Kovalski1” Kovalski (35th).

Three other events played out on Saturday, starting with Event No. 8 ($22 NLHE Mini Main Event). That one broke a two-day-old record, drawing 6,440 entries to make it the largest event in BSOP history. Brazil’s own Felipe “felipe_anps” Soares took the title and $18,305.31 first prize. That field created a $128,800 prize pool, besting the $75K gtd.

Another Brazilian won Event No. 9 ($530 NLHE High Roller)Cássio “cassiopak” Kiles, who already had collected BSOP titles before in a Main Event in São Paulo (in 2012) and a High Roller in Iguazu (in 2018). The guarantee was $50K, and with 347 entries the prize pool more than tripled that, totaling $173,500.

Event No. 10 ($109 NLHE 6-Max Turbo) also played out Sunday night, drawing 1,269 entries to generate a $126,900 prize pool, about 2.5x the $50K gtd. “dannmansell” of the U.K. won, earning $19,744.42 for the effort. As if to demonstrate how the BSOP isn’t just for Brazilians, sixth-place finisher “guix2x” was the only player from Brazil to make the top 45 of this one.

Speaking of… as noted up top, you can still play Event No. 11 tonight. To find it, click the “Tourney” tab in the PokerStars client and type “BSOP” in the search filter to find the “BSOP Online Event” tournaments.
