“SamuraiUA” wins Sunday Million after three way split
This week’s 2-day Sunday Million reached a total prize pool of $3,176,200. There were 313 players left when the tournament went on break, with a huge top prize of $227,842 up for grabs.
“clucaspoker” from the UK, who’s previous successes include first places in both the Sunday Storm and Marathon, came onto the final table with a commanding chip lead. Canadian reg Adam “ISmellToast” Crawford and “SamuraiUA” from the Ukraine also had decent stacks. Several players were hovering around the 10 – 15bb mark, suggesting a quick succession of busts would be likely.
First to go was “denisboxxx”, who’s A-K ran into pocket Kings. Next was “Tadevosan”, followed by “johnen5”. “2Much$4U_08” and Adam Crawford all fell victim to short stack dynamics within the first 20 minutes or so of the final table, leaving just four to battle it out.
clucaspoker still help the chip lead as play went back and forth. “Afghan999k” had played a relatively tight game throughout. Finding themselves short stacked, they made a shove for survival, but were called off by SamuraiUA.
The final three players then struck up a deal. clucaspoker took by far the most from the split. “LeModano” from Austria took a decent chunk, then went on to finish third place for a total of $154,237.
Heads-up, SamuraiUA made several double-ups to bring the stacks to even. With the blinds creeping higher, it was a simple hand that would end it all. clucaspoker ran their pocket 7s into SamuraiUA’s pocket Js. Jacks held, and it was game over!
Here are the final table results:
