Sunday is already the biggest day of the week for online poker tournaments and next week it will get even bigger.

Sunday March 8 also happens to be International Women’s Day, and to mark the occasion, one particular PokerStars Sunday tournament will have a very special package added to the prize pool.

PokerStars Ambassador Celina Lin will be in the hunt for a Platinum Pass

The regular PokerStars Women’s Sunday tournament will award a $30,000 Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) to the highest-placed female finisher in the event. The women who finish second and third highest will win tickets to a €1,050 PSPC direct qualifier tournament.

As an added incentive to play, the regular buy-in of $55 has been cut by more than half. It means that one woman will be heading to the PSPC for only $22.

The tournament takes place at 14:40 ET and late registration is available for an hour and a half. Players must be female to play in the tournament and have their gender assigned as female in the “Settings” tab. (Contact PokerStars support if you need help in changing this setting.)

“PokerStars wants to celebrate women in poker by taking a look at our women-focused offering and spicing it up, starting with dedicating a Platinum Pass to a community that regularly enjoys playing these Sunday tournaments,” said Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Associate Director of Public Relations, The Stars Group. “We’re always out there asking questions. What can we do better? What can we change? And we like to encourage more female players to reach out to us with their feedback. One suggestion was female-focused qualifiers to live events, and what could be better than a Platinum Pass to the PSPC?”

PokerStars is committed to the growth of the game and that includes encouraging more women to sit down and have fun at the tables, not just on International Women’s Day. So, keep an eye out for more exciting things to come.

The PSPC will be held in Barcelona from August 20-24, 2020. In January 2019, the inaugural PSPC became the biggest $25,000 buy-in live poker tournament in history. It was won by Platinum Pass winner Ramon Colillas, who picked up $5.1 million and furthered his dream by becoming a PokerStars Ambassador.
