Blinds: 6,000-12,000 (1,000 ante)

2.01pm: Carter gets Ari’s Gold
Carter Phillips made a standard raise from the button before facing a three-bet from Ari Kolpanitzki. His response was to move all in with Q♥ Qâ™  and the call was instant in coming with 9♥ 9♦ . The dealer gave us Q♦ 2â™  7♥ Kâ™  6♦ to enable Phillips to double to 770,000 and send Kolpanitzki down to 270,000. –MC

2pm: Jose Carreres loses big toss
Spaniard Jose Carreres has given the home supporters a little less to cheer about. Carreres had shoved over the top of Santiago Terrazas’s cut-off raise just a few hands before his exit to chip back up to 250,000, which is exactly the amount he had when he shoved with A♥ 10♥ . Lapossie instantly called with 6♣ 6♦ sending Michael Greco deep into the tank. The former TV soap actor took to his feet before eventually folding, which is probably just as well given that Matt Lapossie flopped an overpair and open-ended draw with 3â™  4♥ 5♣ which blossomed into a straight on the turn. Carreres is out. –RD

1.50pm: Old McDonald
So far table three hasn’t had the all-in excitement of its twin down in the bear pit, but there are no signs of afternoon lethargy. Mike McDonald has been among the raisers, the first time being pushed out on the flop by a Cornell all-in and then on another flop after a 55k under-the-gun bet from Roland de Wolfe. But it was third time lucky for McDonald, raising from the big-blind and betting big on the flop to force out Georgious Kapalas. Not a showdown in sight but McDonald up to around 600,000. – SB

1.55pm: Another boom from ElkY
Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier raises pre-flop and Jens Kyllonen moves all-in with Q♣ 3♣ . ElkY wastes little time calling with 4♣ 4♥ . Kyllonen winced but got some luck on the flop: A♥ Q♦ 8♣ . The effect on ElkY is to jolt him back in his chair, white knuckling the arm rests. The turn 10♦ did nothing for the Frenchman, neither did the K♣ . Kyllonen apologised but is back to 750,000. Less than 150,000 for ElkY. – SB

1.45pm: Qualifier down
The PokerStars qualifier David Robinson has been eliminated by Roland de Wolfe. The latter raised from the button and then called the all in push from Robinson in the big blind. De Wolfe tabled 10♦ 10♥ to Robinson’s A♥ Qâ™  and the board came Aâ™  5♥ K♦ 10♣ 6♥ . Robinson clapped his hands when the ace fell but it was a celebration too early as a ten fell to snatch his tournament away from him. Robinson has been featured regularly in the blog this week and has acquitted himself very well. –MC

1.23pm: Table two jostling
The action on table two has been a little more reserved than elsewhere. There’s been a couple of pre-flop raises that have gone clean through from Adam Markovits and Ari Kolpanitzki. The big tussle so far has been between Roland de Wolfe and Jan Boubli – but that was between their chair legs and a TV monitor. –RD

1.20pm: McDonald shoving
Mike McDonald isn’t letting Adam Markovits get away with anything. The Canadian raised to 29,000 from mid position and Markovits called. The flop came 7♥8♣3♥ and McDonald bet 45,000. Markovits attempted to min-raise, but only made it 70,000, so was forced to put another three yellow chips into the middle. McDonald was having none of that and moved all in for about 320,000 more, and Markovits folded. – HS

1.18pm: Manole bueno also
Mihai Manole takes on Patrick Bueno from the button, making it 32,000 pre-flop. Bueno is in the big blind and calls for a 3♠2♥6♦ flop. Bueno checked to Manole who made it 37,000. Bueno called. Both checked the 4♥ on the turn and the 9♦ on the river. A♣Q♣ for the Frenchman but 8♣6♥ for Manole; good enough.

1.16pm: Goodwin makes a big call
Matt Lapossie raises under the gun to 27,000 and is called in 3 spots; Marc Goodwin in the hijack, Joram Voelklein on the button and David Robinson in the small blind. The four players check the 5♣ 5♦ T♣ flop so the 128,000 remains up for grabs on the turn. A K♣ on the turn is checked round to Voelklein who bets 51,000. He shrugs off Robinson but Lapossie and Goodwin stand firm. The 8♦ surely changes little and the action is checked round to the turn aggressor Voelklein who bets 130,000. Lapossei thinks for a short while and makes the call putting Goodwin in a dilemma, ‘I think I’ve got the second best hand now, but I’m not sure to which of you.’ He doesn’t take long before dropping a stack of 13 blue 10,000 chips over the line and his call with AK is good. Lapossie shows pocket threes and Voelklein pocket Queens. Goodwin scoops the 518,000 pot and is now up to 1,900,000. –RD

1.12pm: Bueno bueno
Two hands raised pre-flop from Patrick Bueno and two hands folded to the raiser.

1.10pm: From where he left off…
Matt Lapossie continues where he left off last night by raising, 26,000 from early position, getting calls from Santiago Terrazas in the button and David Robinson in the big blind. On the 9♣3♠2♦ flop it was Lapossie again, 42,000 this time, called by Terrazas but passed by Robinson. Lapossie made it 73,000 on the 8♣ turn. Terrazas paused for a second before announcing raise. A lot, around 170,000 more. Lapossie says something about this behind the first hand but mucks his cards. First blood to Terrazas.

1.07pm: Feature table action
Jens Kyllonen raised from mid position to 30,000 and was called by Patrick Bueno on the button before a Q♣K♦A♦ flop came down. Both players checked before Kyllonen folded to a 37,000 bet from Bueno on the 6♥ turn.

1pm: Start!
Day four is under way, and on the first hand on the feature table, Mihai Manole attempts a raise from mid-position and runs straight into Patrick Bueno’s reraise from the small blind. That 96,000 is too rich and Manole folds. — HS

A NEW DAY; THE SAME LEVEL

It’s day four at Casino Barcelona. The 23 players surviving from yesterday have returned to play down to a final table. We still have almost all of level 20 to get through and so we’ll continue this post until things change. Then we’ll go into level 21. It’s not rocket science.

So check out all the regular stuff by following the red links:

8.30pm: How things stand
The day three wrap is on the way but you can pass the time looking through the now official chip counts in the usual place. Here’s how the top five look going into day four:

1 – Georgious Kapalas, Greece, 1,724,000
2 – Matt Lapossie, Canada, PokerStars qualifier, 1,675,000
3 – Marc Goodwin, UK, 1,563,000
4 – Patrick Bueno, France, 1,399,000
5 – Joram Voelklein, Germany, 1,175,000

8.15m: Day is done
And with that, we’re finished for the day and the players are bagging chips. Their full counts will be available within an hour and a full wrap up of the day’s action is also coming your way. Stand by – and don’t wear out that F5 button in too much anticipation. –HS

8.14pm: Sweden waves goobye
At the same time that Rahman was being knocked out, Pontus Kers was completing a dreadful two minutes for Sweden, when he also hit the rail. Kers got involved with Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, which rarely ends well, and his A-Q couldn’t out-draw ElkY’s pocket kings. Kers went in 23rd, meaning we start tomorrow already one lighter than we expected. –HS

8.12pm: Samer Rahman out in 24th
High stakes cash game player Samer Rahman has just busted in a 1.2m pot that has handed Greece’s Georgios Kapalas a monster stack and – if our initial calculations are correct – a chip leading 1.7m chip stack. Rahman and Kapalas had been jostling for table general status for some time when Rahman raised from middle position with K♦ 7♦ and was 3-bet from the button by Kapalas with J♠ T♥ to 85k. The Swede called and then check-called top pair on the 8♠ 4♠ 7♥ flop for 110,000. He then check-called 9♦ on the turn, which had given Kapalas the nut straight. The K♥ on the river gave Rahman two pair and was enough to persuade him to get his remaining 250,000 into the middle. Kapalas called and gave him the bad news. –RD

8pm: One more to go
We’re expecting this to be a pretty short level. Only one more of the 25 remaining players needs to bust before our day four field is established. Chip counts are in the usual place.
