Blinds: 100-200

3.35pm: No ache in James’ head
James Akenhead is up to 90,000 already and that’s no mean feat with Allen Cunningham and Nenad Medic sat directly to his left. The latest hand to help him on his way saw him raise to 550 from early position and get three callers to a J♥ Q♥ Aâ™  flop. Akenhead continued with a 1,650 bet that only Medic called before then both checked the 5♦ turn. Akenhead picked up speed on the river though with a 3,250 bet that Medic called. Akenhead tabled Q♣ 10♣ that was good for the pot. Medic’s on 31,000 after that loss.

3.20pm: Battle of Britain
Table 41 has got a distinctively British flavour to it. There are five Brits including J P Kelly, Neil Channing and Jeff Kimber. The latter of these was just involved in two pots and he managed to win the first one but lost the second one.

Kimber raised to 600 from early position and had two callers before a three-bet came from late position to the value of 2,450. Kimber’s response was to raise again to the value of 9,000 and that was good enough to make all fold.

The very next hand Kimber was at it again with a raise to 600 that was called in four spots including the two blinds. The flop came 4♣ 7â™  [ 5h] and Kimber’s 1,800 bet was only called by Kelly. The turn came J♥ and Kimber’s 1,875 bet was raised up to 4,500 by Kelly. The call was made and the river came K♥ . Kimber checked this time and then called Kelly’s 5,500 bet but mucked when Kelly announced “Flush” and opened 7♥ 4♥ . Kimber shook his head and claimed to have been holding pocket fives.

Kelly’s on 45,000 now whereas Kimber’s down to 16,500.

3.10pm: Pot to Diwei
On a flop of 10♠ 5♦ Q♣ Pascal Perrault and Bryan Huang Diwei fought over a pot. Both checked to and from a A♥ on the turn for a 5♣ river card. A 1,700 bet from Diwei brought him the prize.

3.05pm: Boom boom
Boris Becker is in action, a 1,200 volley from the button pre-flop behind a raise by Team PokerStars Asia Pro Bryan Huang Diwei. Surinder Sunar calls in the small blind, as does Diwei in the cut off. The action is checked to Becker after the 6♦ 6♥ 7♣ and he makes it 2,200. Sunar passes, as does Diwei. Becker having a ball, up to nearly 50,000.

2:52pm–Coffee anyone?
We pick up the action at Team PokerStars Pro Brown’s table where he’s facing a bet of 4,600. The board is an ugly 5♦ 2♦ 7♦ 7♣ 9♥ . Brown barely considered the play before tossing out two 5,000 chips.

This perplexes his opponent, a man for whom two interests are battling. IN front of him is the raise. Behind him is a man named Abel. In Abel’s hand is a tray and on that try is a cup of coffee. Abel, a patient man, waits until Brown’s opponent folds before delivering the coffee.

Brown, meanwhile, is nearing the 50,000 mark.

2.50pm: Champ knocked out

Greg Raymer is out, but is physically stuck “in”. His table is one of those surrounded by others, penned in. So for a minute or so he stands waiting for a hand to finish before players can move to let him out. “Now I wish I’d gone broke on the last hand before the break.” He gets out though, stopping by to see how another former World Champion Joe Hachem is getting on. It’s been a tough start for Hachem, not least because his 8-Game championship win last night kept him up till this morning, but he’s down to 10,000, then back up to 15,000 with a not shown hand on a board of Kâ™  A♦ 2♥ 8♥ J♦ .

2:47pm–Slow and steady, Lex!
Dutch Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis has not necessarily developed a reputation for nitting it up at the tables. So, it wasn’t a surprise to see him three-bet the very first hand we saw him play. His opponent called and they saw a 8♦ K♦ 4♦ flop. With the door open on a check, Veldhuis casually tossed out 2,500, good for the win.

He’s worked his stack up to north of 40,000.

2:43pm–Hucking and jiving
We stepped up to Huck Seed’s table on a K♣ 5♦ 10♦ flop. Seed checked and saw his opponent bet of 1,500. Seed fingered his chips and check raised to 3,500. His opponent wasted no time before shoving in his stack.

Seed, sitting with just a little more than 5,000 of his initial 30,000, mumbled and folded.

2.35pm: A classic race situation
While player return to their seats for level three there’s time for a video blog, this one, the “Black cab challenge” featuring Chris Moneymaker and Barry Greenstein.
