EPT Malta: Side event news; 19 left in the €1k Single Re-Entry

March 26, 2015

The €10k High Roller has rightly taken up the majority of the space of upper tournament room with the EPT Main Event tucked away in the far right corner. The rest of the space has been saved for the final three tables of the €1k Single Re-Entry where just 19 players remain including IPT Malta winner Georgios Zisimopoulos, bracelet winner Simeon Naydenov, GPI’s French #1 Erwann Pecheux and FPS Deauville €2k High Roller winner Vladimir Troyanovskiy. If you read last night’s report on this event (and why wouldn’t you?) then you’ll know that the floor staff added an extra level to the proceedings after the late finish in the €2k (which has a similar structure). This will hopefully mean a slightly earlier finish than the one experienced last night by Stephen Chidwick and Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov.

Even though the High Roller is into the third level, there’s still a satellite to said event going on downstairs. 29 players remain involved out of the 80 who played while there were 29 rebuys and 78 add-ons. There’s eight tickets with 9th place picking up €4,900. Those still in include EPT winners Nicolas Chouity and David Vamplew, Jeffrey Hakim and Jason Wheeler.

The €1k Limit Stud Hi/Lo Championships, kicked off at 3pm with a total of 16 players so far. Stud Hi/Lo, also known as Stud Eight or Better is rarely seen as a tournament game outside the World Series of Poker, so it’s good to see this variant of poker being catered for at EPT Malta.

The other event that has already started today is the €500 Deepstack, there were a total of 262 players in this tournament with around 190 currently remaining, including Chris Kiefert, Manig Loeser, Heinz Kamutzki and Petr Jelinek. A total of 39 places are being paid a minimum of €890 while there is €25,500 for the winner.

Later on today, there is the €200 Limt Holdem Turbo Deepstack beginning at 5pm, a €2k Turbo 8-Handed at 7pm – which should prove very popular for anyone busting out of the EPT Main Event or High Roller. For those looking for some post-dinner poker fun, there is a €300 Turbo Deepstack Win the Button event at 9pm and then the day will round off with the €1k HyperTurbo at Midnight.
