2.57pm: Break it up
Another level down and another 15 minute break. When we come back you’ll find us in a new post. — MC

2.48pm: So Longhitano, out in 19th place
Massimiliano Manigrasso just sent his countryman Luciano Longhitano to the rail; Longhitano becoming our 18th place finisher. — SB

2.44pm: Short stack to the million chip man
Francesco De Vivo came back today with just 155,000 and the tag of “short stack”. Well not any more as he’s just doubled up for a third time to move to over 1,100,000 chips.

Costantino Russo raised from the cut-off and called when De Vivo shoved for 572,000.

Russo: 5♥ 5♦
De Vivo: Q♣ Q♠

The board ran Aâ™  3♥ 3♣ Q♥ 6♥ . It was all over by the turn and De Vivo started celebrating like, well, you know how. — MC

2.36pm: Cavecchi out in 19th
Luca Cavecchi becomes the 19th place finisher, sent to the rail by Joe Cada. Cavecchi moved in for about 700,000 which Cada called. “Aces?” asked Cavecchi, to which Cada said no, a little surprised by the suggestion. Cavecchi showed A♦ Kâ™  to Cada’s Jâ™  J♥ .
The board ran 4♣ 9♦ 2♥ 8â™  6♦ to send him to the rail. Cada continues to surge. – SB

2.32pm: Lykov on the ascendancy at Yunis’ expense
Max Lykov is up to around 2,500,000 after taking more than 400,000 from Nicolas Yunis. The Chilean had opened for 85,000 and was three-bet by Lykov from the cut-off to 160,000. Yunis called.

The action was checked to the river on the A♥ 3â™  3♥ K♣ Qâ™  board. Yunis checked leaving the door open for Lykov to take the pot. The Russian Team PokerStars Pro chopped out a chunky 245,000 stack and pushed it forward. Yunis, who has made some big calls over the last couple of days, didn’t look thrilled about the bet. He looked even less happy after making the call; Lykov showing K♦ Kâ™  for a turned full house. — RD

2.31pm: It pays to be the Elder player
Rupert Elder is using his big stack to great affect. He min raised from the hijack and took down the blinds and antes.

The very next hand he was under-the-gun and min raised to 80,000 again. Max Heinzelmann was in the big blind and three-bet to 211,000. Elder was having none of it though and four-bet to 385,000 to force his German opponent to fold. — MC

2.25pm: Venerable Venneri
Joe Cada just tried to start a run of knocking people out, calling Antonino Venneri’s all-in for a million. Cada showed A♦ K♦ to Venneri’s 3♣ 3♦ .

Antonino Venneri

The board ran 4♦ 7♥ 5â™  7♦ 3â™  . The turn had given Cada help but not the river. Venneri made a “Huh!” noise and slapped hands with Alfonso Amendola, who had suddenly, and from out of nowhere, appeared on stage. He’s up to around 2,000,000. – SB

2.22pm: Italians roughing it up
Luigi Pignataro opened from the hijack of the six-handed feature table and Diego Bolzoni made the call from the button. The Q♣ Qâ™  5♣ flop was checked by both players to the 7♣ turn which Pignataro led 91,000 into, Bolzoni made the call. The Aâ™  river was checked down and Pignataro found his Kâ™  K♥ had been revered by Belzoni’s A♣ Jâ™  . — RD

2.20pm: Cataldi culled in 20th place
Team PokerStars Pro Joe Cada is up to 3,000,000 chips after eliminating Fabrizio Cataldi in 20th place for €25,000.

Catalsi raised to 87,000 and then moved all-in for 1,400,000 after Cada made it 210,000. Cada snap called to create a huge showdown.

Cataldi: A♥ Q♣
Cada: Q♦ Q♥

It was a terrible spot for Cataldi and it didn’t get any better through the 8â™  2♥ Kâ™  7♣ 6♥ board. — MC

2.10pm: All-ins and flops
Antonino Venneri just moved all-in for around 550,000, but found no takers. Then, on the other outer table, Andrew Teng and Luciano Longhitano were in a hand together. On a flop of Jâ™  K♥ Kâ™  Teng checked to Longhitano who made it 90,000 to play, which Teng called. Both checked the 10♥ turn card then Teng won the pot, betting 215,000 into the 7♥ river card. – SB

2.05pm: Fresh (fish and) chips
We’re keeping the chip counts refreshed on a rotating basis. It’s a bit like when you go into one of those conveyor belt sushi shops. They keep going round and if they’ve been there too long we make sure they’re replaced. You can see who the current leaders are by clicking here. (It’s Rupert Elder, by the way). — RD

2.04pm: Power poker pays
Two hands just took place on both outer tables that saw aggressive preflop action.

Max Heinzelmann raised to 80,000 to face a three-bet to 220,000 from Antonino Venneri. Heinzelmann’s answer was to four-bet all-in for over 1,000,000. Venneri waited long enough to for the camera men to get in position before folding.

A minute later on the other table it was Francesco De Vivo facing a decision which was effectively for his tournament. He opened to 81,000 from the button but them rambled on in Italian, and folded, after Costantino Russo three-bet to 225,000 from the big blind. — MC

1.53pm: Viva De Vivo
Francesco De Vivo moved all-in for 356,000 and was called by Andrew Teng, as before. De Vivo showed A♠ 7♣ while Teng turned over 2♦ 2♠ .

De Vivo all-in

The board ran 4♣ A♥ 9♣ 10♥ 6â™  to double up De Vivo, who screamed an Italian swear word then banged the table hard with both hands. He’s up to around 700,000. – SB

1.52pm: Spada traps, gets nothing
Roberto Spada caught a gutshot with K♣ 4♣ on a 10♥ J♥ Aâ™  Q♦ turn after defending his big blind from a Nicolas Yunis late position open. Spada check-called the flop before checking the turn and the 4♣ river. Yunis didn’t bite either street. — RD

1.50pm: Snap flop shove from Manigrasso
Massimiliano Manigrasso just moved all-in on a 5♣ 7♣ 7♦ flop to pick up more than 250,000 chips.

Costantino Russo opened the pot with a raise to 86,000 from the cut-off and was called by Manigrasso in the next seat and Kamal Choraria in the big blind. The flop came down and Russo c-bet for 110,000 before Manigrasso instantly moved in for 860,000. Choraria folded, as did Russo after some though. Manigrasso flashed the 3â™  and added the chips to his stack. — MC

1.40pm: Play resumes
Cards are back in the air in Level 25.

LEVEL UP: BLINDS 20,000-40,000, ANTE 4,000

1.25pm: Break time
That’s the end of the level. Players are now taking a 15 minute break. — SB

1.23pm: Lichentin follows Darakjian, out in 21st
Frenchman David Lichentin is our second faller from the TV feature table (which I’m trying to follow by a camera feed in the press room as access to the set is heavily restricted). Team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov’s A♥ Qâ™  put pay to Lichentin’s 9♣ 6♣ where it appeared to go in on the 3♥ Q♣ 2♣ 2â™  turn. The 10♦ river blanked out to send Lichentin to the rail in 21st for €25,000. — RD

1.22pm: Darakjian out in 22nd
Freddy Darakjian was down to 20 big blinds when he got it in with pocket sevens to Roberto Spada’s pocket eights. Another one bites the dust. — RD

1.20pm: Greico gone in 23rd
An elimination as the break approaches. Fabrizio Cataldi opened for 61,000 under-the-gun which Nicola Grieco raised to 200,000 in the cut off. Then Rupert Elder raised again to 345,000 from the button. Cataldi eventually folded before Greico shoved for around a million total. Elder flash called, turning over his A♠ A♦ while Greico, spirits crushed, threw down A♣ K♥ .

The board ran Jâ™  6♣ 7♦ 8♦ 6♦ to send Greico out, and Elder up to more than 3,000,000. – SB

1.18pm: Xuan loses one
Xuan Liu was just forced out of a hand by Kamal Choraria. Liu opened for 60,000 in late position which was called by Choraria from the blinds. The flop came 6â™  K♦ 9♥ which Choraria bet at, 60,000. Liu then raised to 160,000 before Choraria bumped things up even more to 360,000. Liu was now on the back foot, tanked and folded. – SB

1.10pm: Teng doubled De Vivo
Francesco De Vivo was the shortest stack coming in to today and he’s still very short even after a recent double-up. Andrew Teng raised to 65,000 and made the automatic call when De Vivo moved all-in for 162,000.

De Vivo: K♠ Q♣
Teng: A♦ 3♦

The board ran Q♥ 5♦ J♥ 7â™  K♣ to make the Italian two-pair. He celebrated like he just won the lottery but he still has a lot of work to do if he’s going to get back in contention. — MC

1pm: Aggressive push almost pays off, Boldini exits
Nicola Boldini is our first faller today after making an aggressive shove into Xuan Liu (admittedly only for 12 big blinds). Xuan Liu opened under-the-gun for 60,000 and Nicola Boldini moved all-in for 354,000 as the next player to act.

Despite Massimiliano Manigrasso having a good think about it no other player joined the action leaving Liu to make the call.

Liu: J♦ J♥
Boldini: Aâ™  5â™

The 7â™  3♣ Kâ™  flop wasn’t a pretty one for Liu who gave a here-we-go smile. The 2♣ turn gave a scare as Liu said: “More outs,” but the K♦ river blanked for Boldini who goes to the rail in 24th. — RD

12.50pm: Early action
The first two hands played at the outer tables played out as follows:

On table one Andrew Teng gave Massimiliano Manigrasso an early indication of what his day will be like. When Manigrasso raised to 65,000 from under-the-gun, Teng three-bet to 170,000 from the next seat. The Italian conceded defeat and folded.

On table two, Joe Cada raised from the hijack and Max Heinzelmann called from the cut-off to see a 5♦ 7♣ Aâ™  flop that was checked through. The turn came 5♥ and a Cada bet of 112,000 was enough to force a fold from the German. — MC

12.40pm: It begins
Play has just kicked off. As per usual the estimated delay was wildly underestimated and the final half hour or so of level 24 will be played down among the lights and dry ice. — RD

12.20pm: And one for fun…
Players are having their pictures taken meaning we’re only minutes from the start. Check out the Seat Draw for today at appropriate link. — SB

12.16pm: From the tournament floor
Gloria Balding introduces Day 5 of EPT San Remo.

12.15pm: It’s all about fire safety
News from the new tournament floor. There are certain restrictions in place on the feature table that make it out of bounds for us today. We’ll be focusing on the two (then one) outer tables for now, with updates when we get them from the main stage. — SB

11.55pm: Slight delay
The tournament floor has shifted to the Casino theater today, away from the ballroom upstairs. It means they’ll be a slight delay to the start, estimated to be 15 minutes. — SB

11.45pm: Welcome to Day 5
Welcome back to Day 5 of the European Poker Tour main event in San Remo, Italy. It’s the penultimate day stage of the tournament, with 24 players returning to slog through however many levels it takes to reach a final table of eight.

Leader coming into the day is Nicolas Yunis, who put in an effective performance yesterday to bag up 2,281,000. He’s chased by the likes of Team PokerStars Pros Joe Cada and Max Lykov, as well as Rupert Elder and Luigi Pignataro, each of whom is within striking distance, as the Official Chip Count Page shows.

Last night play stopped in level 24, with 43 minutes and 10 seconds left on the clock. That’s where things will pick up from. — SB
