Home / Uncategorized / EPT10 Vienna: Katchalov, Hall, Wheeler, Geilich, Hof, Bou Habib and Jacobson among the side event heroes

Let’s not mince our words. The EPT Main Event is and always will be the most important tournament at each EPT stop. That’s not to say that there’s not a whole lot of other juicy tournaments going on: High Rollers, deep stacks, sometimes even Super High Rollers.

Here in the impressive* Hofburg Palace the schedule of 40 events closes out today after a solid week of first class poker. If you fade the Main Event it doesn’t mean that you have to leave empty-handed. Just look at the likes of Tom Hall (two 2nds for €136,260), UKIPT winner Ludovic Geilich (1st for €46,360), EPT Deauville runner-up Walid Bou Habib (€107,700), and Martin Jacobson (€17,590 and a €10,600 EPT Grand Final seat).

Eugene Katchalov: where you from again?

A little hat tip should go to Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof for winning the women’s event (€5,352) and another – perhaps with a wider brimmed hat – to Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov who took down the Eureka High Roller for €149,400. It’s been a good couple of festivals for Katchalov.

It hasn’t all been big money poker though. There was also a €220 ‘Mozart Megastack’, sponsored by Joachim Grasel, owner of the chocolate distribution company Suesswaren Grasel and, so we’re told, a keen poker player. Players got to benefit from great dealers, a great two-day structure and tasty chocolates handed out by promo girls in red dresses. Hmmmm, chocolate.
