The EPT has come a long way since the first stop here in Barcelona in September 2004. If any proof was needed of that then the lowest of the high rollers at this stop carries a buy-in 10 times the size of the event Alexander Stevic won all those years ago.
After the €50,000 Super High Roller and €25,000 (not so) One Day High Roller, the €10,000 High Roller, which starts today, offers the last chance saloon for some of the high stakes players to make their mark here in Barcelona and get Season 12 off to a profitable start.
Whilst we don’t pretend to have a crystal ball, the fact that the other high roller events here in Barcelona have been so well attended it’d be no surprise to see this event breach 400 or even 500 players given that last year there were 393 total entries (295 unique players and 98 re-buys).
As for today, the plan for is to play ten 60 minute levels, throw in a dinner break and play should wrap up around 00.45 CET. Cards are in the air and below is a look at how this event has grown over the past five years:
Season | Enties | Prize pool | Winner | Prize |
---|---|---|---|---|
Season 11 | 393 | € 3,851,400 | Ihar Soika | € 747,200 |
Season 10 | 180 | € 1,764,000 | Thomas Muehloecker | € 522,633 |
Season 9 | 111 | € 1,087,800 | Laurent Polito | € 270,229 |
Season 8 | 67 | € 670,000 | Philipp Gruissem | € 234,500 |
Season 7 | 36 | € 380,000 | Fernando Brito | € 127,500 |
