Home / Uncategorized / EPT12 Prague: Single-day high roller to kick off

Yesterday evening, Steve O’Dwyer completed one of the most predictable storylines of the EPT Prague festival when he won the €50,000 Super High Roller title after cutting a heads-up deal with Sam Greenwood.

We’re not sure how O’Dwyer continues to do it, but he is an all-time superstar at the high buy-in events on the EPT (and also, of course, has a main event title too.) This latest triumph earned him €746,543 and provided him with another line on a resume that is among the most awe-inspiring in the business.

There’s a good chance O’Dwyer will be back in action today, but not (possibly) in the main event. The tournament room in Prague today will host, from start to finish, the €25,000 single-day High Roller event, which will likely attract a typically glittering array of stars.

This is the tournament that will give O’Dwyer the opportunity to do something very unusual. He won this tournament in Malta (of course he did) and so he’s defending that title. And because he also won yesterday’s Super High Roller, he’s defending that too. Can O’Dwyer pull of a double defence? If anyone can, O’Dwyer can.

There were 99 entrants for the same event in Malta, and who knows if numbers will be similar for this event here today. Regardless, it’s sure to be a pretty fast-paced event with the players knowing they can hop into the Main Event if it all goes pear-shaped.

Play starts at 12.30pm, and there will be hand-by-hand coverage on the dedicated Single Day High Roller page. We will catch up with all the storylines as they progress.
