EPT12 Prague: The more things change, the more things, etc. etc.

Well, this is embarrassing.

The Super High Roller has started. We can declare this much and tell you that the chairs, the tables, the cards, the chips, and even the players are all in place. But, how can we put this: there’s nothing new to report. In fact, if we’re honest it looks exactly the same as the previous Super High Roller event, and the Super High Roller event before that.

Einstein once said that insanity was doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Well in this case we take some comfort in knowing we’re not crazy. They’ll be a different winner, and we’ll celebrate their achievement just like before. But it can feel close to insanity sometimes.

A sound stage in Elstree?At least the backdrop has changed, and it’s a lot colder. Actually we might help everyone save on travel expenses, hotel rooms, and flights by simply playing the Super High Roller events in front of a green screen. Then we could project a different background, like changing skins in the PokerStars tournament lobby. Meanwhile we could all be on a climate controlled sound stage at Elstree studios getting a season of Super High Rollers done in about two weeks.

So who’s here exactly? You know exactly who’s already here. Think of a Super High Roller. Do you have one in mind? Well he’s here. Think of another. Got one? He’s here too, and the guy he travels with. Is she here? No, well not yet. But he is. And so is he.

All play on for eight levels of play today, with the same outcome, which we also know already. The field will expand throughout the day, but no one will be eliminated. Not permanently anyway. This is an unlimited re-buy after all.
