Home / Uncategorized / EPT9 Deauville: Anais Lerouge wins the ladies event and €7,500

Anais Lerouge is somewhat of an fast ladies event specialist having last night won her third title on the European Poker Tour. This time round, here in her native France, Lerouge beat a field of 79 to claim the trophy and the €7,500 first place prize.

She won this same event here two years for €8,600 and also the EPT London ladies event in 2010 for £11,050. She could ‘only’ manage fifth here last year. You can’t win them all.

The Van Brabander sisters, Charlotte and Camille, both made the money (5th and 11th, respectively) as did EPT Barcelona final tablist Isabel Baltazar. Liv Boeree, who spoke to us about the growth of ladies events, was knocked out well before the money but will be looking to do better in the EPT Main Event today.

There was mild controversy – as there often seems to be in ladies events – with the final table showing of two players with XY chromosomes. Some would argue a breach of etiquette, others that all poker tournaments should be open to all as long as you pay your money to play. Whichever side of the fence you stand in the fact remains that Alexis Morlet and Seyed Moussavi will always have a ladies event result next to their name in their live tournament results.
