Lauri Pesonen has continued a fine tradition of Finnish poker supremacy with a heads-up victory over EPT champ Joao Barbosa in the £2,100 8-handed turbo. The Finns have a disproportional amount of poker talent given the size of their population (just 5.4m at last official count). It must be something to do with all those long, cold nights. And at the other end of the European scale, Portugal’s Barbosa has won $1,426,238 in live tournaments putting him second on the all-time money list of his sunny country.
PCA High Roller Scott Seiver also clocked up another creditable finish securing 4th place for £10,870, although it’s still a far cry from the $2,003,480 the American won after claiming the PCA 2013 Super High Roller.
