Three high roller regulars. One business genius securing his second six-figure score of the week. And one player making his poker comeback after six years away, entering the Super High Roller scene in style.

That’s how your five-handed (yep, five) $100K final table shapes up, and we’ll be bringing you blow-by-blow coverage tomorrow from 1:30pm EST. No surprises here: the line-up is superb.

Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen leads the group, having eliminated PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov in the penultimate hand of the night (scroll down to catch up on all of the day’s action). Hunichen’s pocket eights ended up making quads versus Kurganov’s pocket tens, with all the money going in pre-flop. Hunichen bagged up 4.55 million.

Henrik Hecklen sits in second position, putting on another fantastic performance just as he did last month when he took down the $10K High Roller at EPT Prague. Hecklen’s got 3.46 million.

Then you’ve got all-round crusher Sam Greenwood. No surprises to see him make a Super High Roller final table. And then there’s Talal Shakerchi, who only yesterday finished eighth in the enormous PSPC for $509K, and immediately hopped into this one. What a crusher.

The guy we’re not used to seeing in these six-figure buy-ins is Spain’s Jesus Cortes. He finished runner-up in the EPT Barcelona Main Event back in 2010, and hasn’t recorded a live cash since 2012. That was in a €550 tournament. Now he’s here on a final table with $1.77 million up top.

Here’s how they stack up around the table:

We very nearly had two business geniuses at this final table. Like Shakerchi, Greg Jensen is a hugely successful hedge fund manager who is out in the Bahamas playing some high stakes poker this week. He’d ultimately become our bubble boy though, shoving with ace-queen over an open and a call. Cortes called with pocket nines, and Jensen couldn’t improve.

With that, everyone was guaranteed eighth place money: $236,720. We then lost Stephen Chidwick in a super interesting hand in which Chidwick all but shoved, leaving himself with one 5,000 behind. He then folded when he was put all-in. Scroll down to 11:20pm to read that one.

Chidwick busted shortly after, followed by Steffen Sontheimer in seventh place. Don’t feel too bad for the German though; he just seven bigs on the bubble as was very happy to ladder up a couple of spots.

This event has far surpassed last year’s edition, with 61 total entries creating a $5.9 million prize pool. Several players who busted yesterday fired another bullet today before registration closed, including David Peters, in for a third bullet, and Daniel Negreanu on his second.

Negreanu’s Day 2 campaign started off great. He busted Nick Petrangelo — not easy to do, let me tell you — to double up his fresh 250,000 starting stack. But just 40 minutes later Negreanu was also out, running ace-jack into Igor Kurganov’s pocket queens and failing to improve.

We also lost Justin Bonomo throughout the course of action. Bonomo’s $25 million 2018 may never be bettered, but he was hoping for at least a cash in this one to see his 2019 off to a good start. Alas, Bonomo was all-in with pocket tens on a nine-high flop versus Hecklen’s ace-five flush draw, which came in on the river.

Hecklen assumed the chip leader position when we got down to three tables, and never slipped from the top two positions thereafter. If you caught any of his performance on the live stream today, you’ll know the EPT Prague High Roller champ is tough as nails.

Honourable mentions have to go to GPI Player of the Year for 2018 Alex Foxen, Steve O’Dwyer, Jean-Noel Thorel and Mikita Badziakouski, all of whom busted from the final two tables.

11:50pm: Kurganov eliminated in sixth ($378,760)
Level 16 – Blinds 15,000/30,000 (BB ante 30,000)

Chris Hunichen opened with 8♠8♣ and was flatted by Jesus Cortes with K♥Q♠. Igor Kurganov woke up with T♠T♥ in the big blind and squeezed to 305,000, which Hunichen then shoved over with the largest stack. Cortes folded, and Kurganov called 1.21 million for his tournament life.

He still had the best of it on the 6♦2♥7♥ flop, but the 8♦ turn was brutal for Kurganov. The 8♥ landed on the river to add salt to the wound.

Kurganov collects $378,760 as play draws to an end. Hunichen takes the lead with 4.68 million. –JS

11:43pm: One for Shakerchi
Level 16 – Blinds 15,000/30,000 (BB ante 30,000)

Henrik Hecklen opened with A♥Q♥ and was called by Talal Shakerchi in the big blind with 7♥7♦. The 6♥6♣5♥ flop kept Shakerchi in front, but with a flush draw Hecklen continued for 50,000 when checked to. Call.

Both then checked the 3♦ turn, leading to the J♠ river. Shakerchi led out for 135,000 and was called, taking down a nice pot to just about wrap up the night. There’s four mins left on the day. –JS

11:23pm: Steffen Sontheimer out in 7th ($301,820)
Level 16 – Blinds 15,000/30,000 (BB ante 30,000)

Steffen Sontheimer’s tournament has ended. He opened all-in UTG+2 for 160,000 with A♥Q♣. Both Chris Hunichen (hijack, 3♥3♣) and Talal Shakerchi (big blind, A♣T♣) called. They checked down the K♦8♣5♣ flop and 8♠ turn before Shakerchi bet 225,000 on the T♠ river. Hunichen folded, Shakerchi’s pair of tens took the pot, and Sontheimer headed off to collect his cash. –JK

11:20pm: Stephen Chidwick out in 8th ($236,720)
Level 16 – Blinds 15,000/30,000 (BB ante 30,000)

Our first player to cash in this tournament is Stephen Chidwick.

Chidwick opened under the gun with A♠J♥ and Sam Greenwood called in the big blind with A♥6♥. Greenwood check-called 60,000 on the K♦8♥7♠, bringing the 2♥ on the turn. This time Chidwick fired 300,000. Greenwood called and made his flush on the Q♥ river. He checked one more time and Chidwick bet all but his last 5,000 chip. Greenwood called to win the pot and jump to 2.605 million.

Chidwick busted on the following hand when his 8♠3♥ couldn’t outrun Greenwood’s Q♣6♦. –JK

11:03pm: Greg Jensen bubbles in 9th
Level 16 – Blinds 15,000/30,000 (BB ante 30,000)

The money bubble just popped and Greg Jensen has missed out on his second career PCA $100K Super High Roller cash.

Chris Hunichen opened for 65,000 in the hijack seat with A♥7♠ and Jesus Cortes called with 9♥9♦ in the cutoff. Jensen then jammed for 425,000 in the small blind with A♠Q♥, clearing out Hunichen and drawing a call from Cortes. Jensen needed help but couldn’t find it on the 4♦6♥J♠5♥8♥ board. A tough break for Jensen but a guaranteed $236,720 for everyone else.

We’ll be playing until the end of this level and then stopping for the night. –JK

10:45pm: Talal fills up
Level 15 – Blinds 10,000/25,000 (BB ante 25,000)

Talal Shakerchi’s stomach isn’t the only thing that’s full after the dinner break. He turned a boat in this one.

Greg Jensen opened to 65,000 in the cutoff with K♣Q♣ and Stephen Chidwick called on the button with K♦Q♦. Shakerchi found 7♠7♣ in the small blind and came along, and Kurganov was also set-mining from the big blind with 3♠3♣.

A♥7♦4♦

Shakerchi flopped middle set and checked, followed by a check from Kurganov. Jensen didn’t c-bet, and with a flush draw Chidwick led for 75,000. Only Shakerchi called.

The 4♣ turn gave Shakerchi a full house and he checked again. Chidwick checked it back this time, leading to the 2♠ river. Shakerchi seeked some value with a 105,000 bet, but Chidwick laid it down.

He’s on 1.1 million now, while Shakerchi’s up on 990,000. –JS

10:35pm: Cortes grabs one from Chidwick

It’s slow going on the bubble. Here’s a small one for you.

Jesus Cortes raised to 60,000 in the cutoff seat with K♠J♦ and got a call from Stephen Chidwick in the big blind with A♥5♥. Chidwick check-called 50,000 on the K♦A♦K♣ flop and another 145,000 on the 9♣ turn before folding to Cortes’s bet of 320,000 on the 3♥ river.

Chidwick is still on 1.25 million to Cortes’s 2.42 million. –JK

10:10pm: Greenwood gets there
Level 15 – Blinds 10,000/25,000 (BB ante 25,000)

Stephen Chidwick kicked this one off opening to 60,000 with 7♥7♣ from the +1 seat, and it folded over to Sam Greenwood in the big blind. He looked down at A♣9♠ and opted to three-bet to 240,000, which Chidwick called.

The flop fell 4♠J♣8♠ and Greenwood used a time bank before continuing for 100,000 – just 20 per cent of the pot. Chidwick made the call with his pair, bringing the 4♥ turn. With the board now paired, Greenwood checked as did Chidwick.

The A♦ completed the board, putting Greenwood in the lead. He paused and let his shot clock tick down before leading for 200,000. Chidwick made a correct fold.

He’s down to 1.32 million, while Greenwood increases to 1.6 million. –JS

10pm: Hunichen takes a small one from Kurganov

Igor Kurganov opened with Q♦J♦ in the hijack seat and Chris Hunichen called in the small blind with K♠Q♣. Both players made pairs on the K♣4♠J♥ flop but checked, and they checked the 4♦ turn as well. That brought the 2♠ river and Hunichen led for 110,000. Kurganov called to see that his pair of jacks was no good against Hunichen’s kings, giving the latter the pot. –JK

Foxen was in the big blind and called Chris Hunichen’s under-the-gun raise to 55,000 — his third consecutive hand making the same pre-flop raise. Foxen checked the 6♣2♥5♣ flop, Hunichen bet 110,000, Foxen jammed for around 440,000, and Hunichen snap-called.

The first hand back from dinner wasn’t kind to Steve O’Dwyer, who’d been hanging on in desperation mode for at least an hour before the break. He got in with A♥5♠ against Chris Hunichen’s A♠T♥ and couldn’t find a suckout. We’re now down to 10. –JK

9:15pm: Back to bubble-bursting business

Chris Hunichen opened for 42,000 in the hijack seat and picked up calls from Cortes in the cutoff and Thorel in the big blind. Thorel checked the 2♠T♦Q♣ flop and called along with Cortes after Hunichen bet 45,000. Then came the 8♦ on the turn. Thorel and Hunichen both checked; Cortes bet 230,000, Thorel jammed for a little mroe than twice that, Hunichen got out of the way, and Cortes called.

The Q♦ filled Cortes’s flush draw and sent Thorel to the exits on the last hand before dinner. Cortes moves up to 2.275 million. –JK

7:46pm: Hunichen climbing

Chris Hunichen is on a bit of a roll right now. After taking two other pots in the last orbit he just opened to 42,000 under the gun and picked up calls from Jean-Noel Thorel (small blind) and Alex Foxen (big blind). Foxen checked the 4♦8♠K♦ flop and folded after Hunichen bet 50,000 and Thorel called.

Both players checked the 9♥ flop and Thorel quickly fired 75,000 on the 9♦ river. Hunichen didn’t look thrilled but he called and his 6♣6♥ was good against Thorel’s A♠J♦.

Hunichen moves up to 2.3 million, while Thorel tumbles to 360,000. –JK

7:31pm: Badziakouski out in 13th

We’ve just lost Mikita Badziakouski from the feature table.

Stephen Chidwick opened to 45,000 under the gun with A♣Q♦ and Badziakouski jammed the cutoff for 268,000 with K♠T♠. Chidwick called, and the board ran out 2♥Q♥5♥2♦, pairing Chidwick’s queen.

Chidwick’s up to 1.8 million now. –JS

7:30pm: Hunichen chases Shakerchi
Level 14 – Blinds 10,000/20,000 (BB ante 20,000)

Chris Hunichen opened for 42,000 on the button and Talal Shakerchi was his only caller. Shakerchi checked the 8♠4♠3♠ flop, Hunichen bet 40,000, and Shakerchi made it 127,000 to go. Hunichen called, then bet 200,000 when Shakerchi checked the K♦ turn. Shakerchi called again and checked a final time on the 4♦ river. Hunichen used a time bank card before betting 550,000 and Shakerchi folded.

That moves Hunichen up to 1.25 million, while Shakerchi slips to 1 million. –JK

7:13pm: Nemeth falls in 14th

Andras Nemeth picked up 9♠9♥ in the hijack and opened to 45,000. That got Igor Kurganov interested, and he called with 9♦7♦ in the small blind. Sam Greenwood defended his big blind with 8♠5♠, and the three went to a flop.

It fell 5♦K♣7♠ and checked through to the 7♣, giving Kurganov trips. He led out for 65,000, and Nemeth made the call while Greenwood let it go.

The 8♥ hit the river and Kurganov set Nemeth all-in for his last 364,000. Nemeth had no time banks remaining and made the call to see the bad news.

7:12pm: O’Dwyer doubles again

Steve O’Dwyer just picked up more chips, this time from Chris Hunichen. Hunichen opened for 42,000 in the hijack seat, Talal Shakerchi called in the cutoff, and O’Dwyer jammed for 258,000 on the button. Hunichen called with 8♦8♣, leaving him heads-up with O’Dwyer’s K♠K♣ when Shakerchi folded. The Q♦T♦4♦A♠T♠ runout gave O’Dwyer the double to 610,000. –JK

7:10pm: Hecklen collects from Nemeth
Level 14 – Blinds 10,000/20,000 (BB ante 20,000)

Henrik Hecklen is really putting his big stack to work.

Andras Nemeth limped the small blind with A♣2♠ and then called when Hecklen raised to 80,000 with A♥J♦ in the big blind.

The A♠5♠T♦ flop was a dangerous one, giving both top pair. Nemeth check-called a 60,000 c-bet, taking them to the 6♦ turn. Nemeth checked once more, and Hecklen sized up to 230,000. Nemeth stuck around.

The T♣ river paired the board, but Hecklen’s jack kicker still played. Nemeth checked a final time. Hecklen fired 250,000, and Nemeth did not look pleased.

Squirming in his chair, with a grimace on his face, Nemeth used three time bank cards before making the call and seeing the bad news.

Hecklen’s a huge chip leader now with 3.41 million, while Nemeth’s down to 474,000. –JS

7:05pm: O’Dwyer doubles through Foxen
Level 14 – Blinds 10,000/20,000 (BB ante 20,000)

Steve O’Dwyer stayed patient after losing most of his stack earlier and it paid off. He just moved in under the gun for his last 128,000 and ended up heads-up with Alex Foxen and his K♦T♦. The A♠5♠5♣Q♥2♦ flop gave Foxen aces and fives and the win for 270,000. Foxen dips slightly to 740,000. –JK

6:55pm: Shakerchi vs. O’Dwyer
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

The last hand of Level 13 was a good one for Talal Shakerchi; not so much for Steve O’Dwyer.

Shakerchi opened for 58,000 in the small blind and O’Dwyer called in the big blind. Shakerchi led for 60,000 on the T♥8♥6♦ flop, O’Dwyer called, and then they both checked the 5♣ turn. Shakerchi checked the 5♦ river and called relatively quickly after O’Dwyer used a time bank card and then fired 161,000. O’Dwyer’s Q♣J♠ was no good against Shakerchi’s A♣J♣.

Shakerchi climbs to 1.4 million, while O’Dwyer is in danger with just 135,000. –JK

6:46pm: Much-needed double for Badziakouski
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Mikita Badziakouski just doubled his tournament short stack through Igor Kurganov.

Kurganov opened Q♦T♦ and Badziakouski shipped in 170,000 with 8♠8♥, which was called. The pocket pair held up, and Badizakouski’s on 334,000 now while Kurganov dips to 1.13 million. –JS

6:44pm: Foxen doubles through Hunichen
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Alex Foxen needed to find a double soon and he just got one at Chris Hunichen’s experience. I arrived at the table with Hunichen having bet 70,000 on a 2♦5♣8♦ flop and Foxen having check-raised all-in. Hunichen called with J♦8♣ for top pair, jack kicker, but Foxen’s A♦8♠ was ahead with an ace kicker. The 4♣[ turn and K♥ river changed nothing, boosting Foxen to 1.02 million and dropping Hunichen to 1.425 million. –JK

6:38pm: Aces fail Talal Shakerchi again
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Pocket aces did Talal Shakerchi wrong on his final hand in the $25,000 PSPC yesterday. And they did the same to him just now, though with a little less at stake.

Shakerchi raised to 35,000 in the hijack seat and Alex Foxen called in the big blind. They both checked the 9♣9♦6♣ flop and Q♥ turn before Foxen bet 94,000 on the river. Shakerchi snap-called with his A♠A♥ only to find that Foxen had 9♠7♥ for trip nines.

Shakerchi is on 1.63 million now, while Foxen climbs back to 400,000. –JK

6:33pm: Nemeth over a milly
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Andras Nemeth opened to 35,000 in the +1 seat with A♦J♦ and picked up a call from Henrik Hecklen one seat over with 9♣9♠. Steffen Sontheimer defended his big blind with J♥2♥, and the three went to a flop.

6♥5♦Q♦

It checked through to the 4♥ turn, and now both Sontheimer and Nemeth had flush draws. Hecklen’s nines were still best though when Sontheimer led out for 121,000. Nemeth made the call, Hecklen stepped aside.

The J♣ river paired both, and both decided to check. Nemeth announced his hand, and Sontheimer could only laugh.

Sontheimer’s down to 476,000, while Nemeth increases to 1.04 million. –JS

6:25pm: Cortes takes a huge pot from Jensen
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Greg Jensen just lost a big chunk of his stack to Jesus Cortes.

Jensen opened for 35,000 in the hijack seat and Jean-Noel Thorel called in the cutoff. Cortes then made it 172,000 to go from the big blind; Jensen called and Thorel folded.

The action came on the Q♥3♥2♣ flop. Cortes checked, Jensen bet 350,000, and Cortes raised all-in for another 341,000. On confirmation of that count Jensen snap-called with K♦Q♦, only to see that he was in deep against Cortes’s set of queens with Q♠Q♣. The 7♥ turn and T♥ made Cortes’s win official.

Cortes catapults to around 1.7 million with the win, while Jensen tumbles to about 770,000. –JK

6:20pm: Vieira vanquished
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

With no action in front of him, Sam Greenwood found A♠K♦ in the small blind and made it 49,000 to go. Joao Vieira was in the big blind with J♦3♠, and he defended.

The flop fell 6♠6♦3♣ and Greenwood set Vieira all-in for his last 203,000. Vieira got out his time banks, and settled in to think this one through.

Eventually he called after two time banks with his pair of threes. The Q♠ turn meant Vieira could be counterfieted, but that didn’t matter as the A♠ river improved Greenwood to a higher pair.

“That’s not the river I was looking for,” said Vieira as he gathered his belongings.

Greenwood’s up to 1.15 million now. –JS

6:15pm: Foxen falling
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

The last few minutes haven’t been kind to Alex Foxen.

With 115,000 in the pot and the board reading 6♥Q♠J♦A♦, Talal Shakerchi (small blind) checked, Steve O’Dwyer (big blind) checked, and Foxen (lojack) checked behind. Shakerchi led for 56,000 on the A♣ river and only Foxen called, mucking after Shakerchi showed A♠7♠ for a pair of aces.

On the next hand Foxen opened for 32,000 — about 15 percent of his remaining stack — in middle position. Chris Hunichen called in the lojack seat and O’Dwyer called in the big blind. O’Dwyer checked the 4♣7♥7♠ flop, Foxen bet 55,000, and Hunichen raised to 125,000, chasing both of his opponents off the pot.

Foxen is now down to 247,000. –JK

6:10pm: Bonomo flushed out by Hecklen
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Justin Bonomo picked up T♠T♣ under the gun and opened to 35,000, which Stephen Chidwick called with A♦Q♥. Henrik Hecklen also called with A♥5♥ from the cutoff, and the flop fell 9♦7♥3♥, keeping Bonomo’s pair best, and he opted to check. Chidwick checked too, before Hecklen led out for 65,000 with his flush draw.

Bonomo then ripped all-in for 447,000, and when Chidwick folded Hecklen snap-called. Any heart would give him the lead, and the 6♠ added fours to Hecklen’s outs.

The river was the T♥ giving Bonomo a set but Hecklen a flush. Bonomo said his goodbyes, while Hecklen’s now on 2.74 million. –JS

6:06pm: Sontheimer doubles through O’Dwyer
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

The hand after Jean-Noel Thorel doubled his stack was a good one for Steffen Sontheimer. He got in with A♣J♦ against Steve O’Dwyer’s K♦Q♣ and caught a very friendly A♦5♦J♠A♥K♣ board for the double to 530,000. O’Dwyer still has 555,000. –JK

6:05pm: Thorel doubles through Cortes
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Jean-Noel Thorel just doubled his stack through the one belonging to Jesus Cortes.

Thorel opened for 32,000 in the cutoff seat and Chris Hunichen called in the small blind. Cortes then made it 150,000 to go in the big blind; only Thorel called. Cortes bet enough to set Thorel all-in on the T♥T♠4♥ flop and the Frenchman called immediately with his T♣8♣. Cortes’s A♠Q♠ couldn’t catch up on the 7♥ turn and 9♣ river.

Cortes in now on 895,000, Thorel on 630,000. –JK

5:58pm: Cortes cuts ’em off
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Jesus Cortes just picked up a nice three-way pot. He opened for 35,000 in middle position and got calls from Steve O’Dwyer (cutoff) and Jean-Noel Thorel (small blind). Thorel and Cortes both checked the 5♦9♦2♦ flop to O’Dwyer, who bet 70,000. Thorel made it 150,000 to go before Cortes jammed, chasing O’Dwyer away and sending Thorel deep into the tank. Thorel used four time bank cards before deciding to fold, leaving himself 635,000 behind. Cortes is now on 1.2 million. –JK

5:50pm: Huge for Hecklen
Level 13 – Blinds 8,000/16,000 (BB ante 16,000)

Picking up the action on a K♣7♦8♣ flop, Hecklen checked with K♦Q♣ for top pair. Vieira had A♣J♠ and led for 44,000, which Hecklen called.

The 9♣ hit the turn and Hecklen checked again. Picking up a flush and gutshot draw, Vieira fired again, this time for 142,000. Hecklen didn’t budge though.

Q♦ completed the board and when it checked to Vieira a third time he didn’t stop, despite just having ace-high. Vieira bet 312,000, and although Hecklen squirmed, he called with top two.

Hecklen’s the chip leader with 2.07 million, while Vieira’s back down to 312,000. –JS

Jean-Noel Thorel is firing on all cylinders right now. He just opened for 25,000 in middle position and got a call from Steve O’Dwyer in the big blind. O’Dwyer checked the 6♥7♣2♣ flop, Thorel bet 55,000, and O’Dwyer raised to 162,000. Thorel called, then took down the pot with a bet of 175,000 after O’Dwyer checked the 8♠ turn. –JK

After Andras Nemeth opened to 27,000, Steve O’Dwyer three-bet to 100,000 before Foxen jammed for 187,000. Nemeth made his excuses and left, and O’Dwyer called with T♦T♠.

Foxen was behind with his 8♦8♠, but an eight on the 2♣9♠6♥8♣9♥ board gave him a full house to double.

After that hand there was an elimination on the feature table. They are now redrawing for the final two tables, and we’ll have that for you soon.

Steffen Sontheimer opened to 26,000 under the gun and was three-bet to 101,000 by Joao Vieira in the small blind. Sontheimer then shoved for 279,000 total, and got a quick call.

Sontheimer had the best of it, and still did after the A♦Q♣2♠8♥7♥ board which gave both sets.

Things are getting aggressive on Table 3 right now, all without any cards being shown. Take these three consecutive hands as examples.

Justin Bonomo opened for 25,000 on the button in the first hand and Steffen Sontheimer called in the small blind. Sam Greenwood asked Bonomo how much he started the hand with — “about 660K” — and then bumped the bet to 110,000. Bonomo thought for about 10 seconds before moving all-in and took down the pot right there.

Sontheimer opened the following hand for 27,000 on the button but let go when Jesus Cortes jammed from the big blind.

Finally, Greenwood opened for 28,000 on the button and folded when Cortes made it 100,000 to go in the small blind.

With this kind of betting we’re sure to see a showdown sooner or later. There’s just no telling which it will be. –JK

4:35pm: Bit more for Bonomo

Justin Bonomo’s amazing 2018–in which he cashed for $25 million–kicked off right here at the PCA. He finished runner-up in this very event for a million bucks, and from there…well, you know the rest.

He’s just chipped up a bit through Sam Greenwood, as he hopes to make back-to-back PCA Super High Roller final tables. Greenwood had opened to 28,000 in the cutoff, and Bonomo defended his big blind to bring a 9♣4♣8♥ flop. Check check.

The 6♦ turn got Bonomo to lead out for 90,000, but Greenwood stuck around. When the T♠ river was dealt, Bonomo let his shot clock tick down before announcing another bet of 168,000.

Greenwood thought about it, but let it go. He’s down to 1.1 million, while Bonomo’s on 640,000 now. –JS

4:20pm: Winter isn’t coming

He was all-in with K♦J♣ versus Joao Vieira’s 6♥6♠, and found no help on the 3♠3♥5♣3♦2♥ board.

4:16pm: Greenwood gouges Vieira

Sam Greenwood’s stack continues to grow, this time at Joao Vieira’s expense.

Greenwood opened for 24,000 in the hijack seat and called after Vieira made it 81,000 to go on the button. Greenwood check-called 52,000 on the A♣3♣7♥ flop and both players checked the 7♣ turn.

The K♣ hit the river and Greenwood used a time bank card before betting 190,000, almost half of Vieira’s remaining chips. That sent Vieira deep into the tank as he tried to figure out the right move. He used three time bank cards of his own before deciding to fold.

Vieira now has 440,000 to Greenwood’s 1.215 million. –JK

4:15pm: No luck for Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche’s Super High Roller has been ended by Henrik Hecklen.

Nitsche had his 214,000 all in with Q♠J♠ against Hecklen’s K♦Q♥, and was in rough shape. The A♣3♣9♦2♣A♠ board changed nothing, sending Nitsche to the rail.

A big pot just played out between Justin Bonomo and Sean Winter. We picked up the action on the turn of a 9♣2♥K♠9♦ paired board, and Bonomo checked it. Winter led for 32,000 and was called, bringing the 7♥ on the river.

Bonomo checked again and Winter fired 160,000. Bonomo used a time bank before calling, and Winter revealed he had A♠T♥ for ace high. Bonomo had the best of it with his K♣4♠, and moves up to 650,000.

Winter’s down to just 118,000 now. –JS

3:56pm: Foxen doubles

Just a quick one: Alex Foxen has doubled up.

He got his last 202,000 all-in with queen-jack on a queen-high flop, and beat Henrik Hecklen who had queen-five.

Jesus Cortes just picked off a nice chunk of chips from Steffen Sontheimer.

Picking up the action on the 9♠9♦Q♦ flop, Sontheimer (big blind) checked to Cortes (cutoff), who bet 20,000. Sontheimer raised to 60,000 and Cortes called.

Sontheimer led for 65,000 on the 7♦ turn and Cortes called, bringing the J♦ on the river. Sontheimer checked again and Cortes cut out a bet of 230,000. Sontheimer gave it about 15 seconds of thought before releasing his hand.

Sontheimer drops to 475,000 with that loss, while Cortes climbs to 670,000. –JK

We’ve just lost Timothy Adams, who started short after the redraw.

Chris Hunichen opened under the gun to 22,000 and Dominik Nitsche flatted on the button. Adams then shoved for 122,000 out of the small blind, which prompted Hunichen to shove over the top. Nitsche got out of the way.

Adams had 6♥6♦ and was in bad shape versus Hunichen’s Q♠Q♣. He picked up straight outs on the 2♥5♦3♠ flop, but found no help on the A♦ turn or T♣ river.

Peters rolled over A♠T♣ and was up against Kanit’s Q♥9♥. The 8♣A♦T♦ flop looked good for Peters, giving him top two pair. But the J♣ turn gave Kanit a straight, and Peters couldn’t fill up on the J♥ river.

Things are moving quickly in our tournament. We’ve lost Daniel Negreanu (A-J against Igor Kurganov’s QQ) and Daniel Dvoress in the last few minutes. And we just watched Dan Shak’s 8♥8♣ fall to Isaac Haxton’s A♦Q♦ thanks to a queen on the flop, boosting Haxton’s stack to 655,000 and dropping Shak to 155,000.

We’re now on break for 20 minutes. –JK

2:30pm: Koon KO’d, Kruk clipped by Nemeth

Andras Nemeth has just taken down a big pot, eliminating Jason Koon in the process.

Koon had open-shoved for 51,000 in the +1 seat, and Nemeth then moved all-in over the top from the cutoff. Chris Kruk woke up with something he liked on the button, and he too moved all-in, covering both.

Koon took the lead on the K♦2♣6♠ flop, but the A♠ turn left him drawing thin. The 9♣ river didn’t improve either Kruk or Koon, and the latter hit the rail.

Benjamin Pollak’s stay in this Super High Roller has concluded courtesy of Mikita Badziakouski.

Badziakouski opened for 17,000 on the button and Pollak jammed for 156,000 in the big blind. Badziakouski thought for about 10 seconds and then tossed in the chips for a call with his A♥9♥. That was well ahead of Pollak’s 6♠5♠ and stayed there after the 3♣T♣A♦5♦2♦ runout, sending Pollak to the exits.

2:05pm: Cortes conquers Eibinger

Matthias Eibinger won’t be repeating his EPT Prague Super High Roller success here in the Bahamas. He’s just made his exit at the hands of Jesus Cortes. The TV cameras and boom mics flocked around the table after Eibinger, in the cutoff seat, ended up all-in before the flop with 7♠7♣. Cortes, in the hijack, held A♦4♥, which did all its damage on the flop of the 6♠A♣2♥Q♥T♥.

He came dancing across the water, Cortes — and now he’s dancing with a 435,000-chip stack. –JK

2pm: Breaking news: Petrangelo is out
Level 10 – Blinds 4,000/8,000 (BB ante 8,000)

His radar might have been working great, but Nick Petrangelo couldn’t escape this hand.

Daniel Negreanu had opened under the gun and got two callers in Petrangelop (cutoff) and Jason Koon (big blind). They saw an 8♦J♠3♣ flop, and it checked to Negreanu who continued for 15,000. Only Petrangelo called.

The A♣ hit the turn on which Negreanu kept firing. He made it 40,000, and Petrangelo stuck around to see the K♦ river.

Petrangelo had just 79,000 behind at this point, and Negreanu placed 200,000 in the middle, setting him all-in. Petrangelo gave it some thought, then called.

Negreanu showed 3♠3♦ for a flopped set, while Petrangelo had K♣J♣ for two pair, having missed his flush draw on the river.

His day is done, while Negreanu’s up to 500,000 now. –JS

1:50pm: Vieira doubles through Antonius
Level 10 – Blinds 4,000/8,000 (BB ante 8,000)

Joao Vieira just scored a big double at Patrik Antonius’s expense. He re-raised to 56,000 from the big blind after Antonius opened for 15,000 on the button, then snap-called for the rest of his stack when Antonius placed a stack of yellow 25,000-denomination chips in front of him.

Vieira’s K♠K♥ had to dodge a number all the jacks, tens, and diamonds left in the deck after the A♦2♦T♥ flop. The 5♥ turn and 7♠ fit the bill, giving him a double to 445,000. Antonius, meanwhile, tumbles to 140,000. –JK

1:40pm: Davies falls to Sontheimer
Level 9 – Blinds 3,000/6,000 (BB ante 6,000)

Seth Davies’ Super High Roller is done and dusted.

He opened to 13,000 from the +1 seat and Steffen Sontheimer called from the small blind. The two went to a 7♦3♣A♣ flop, and which both checked.

The 5♠ hit the turn and Sontheimer checked again. Davies now made a delayed c-bet of 38,000 — significantly more than the pot — and Sontheimer just called.

That brought the J♥ on the river and a third check from Sontheimer. Davies continued betting big, making it 85,000. Sontheimer then jammed with the larger stack.

Davies had 83,000 behind, and went deep into the tank. He emerged four time bank cards later with a call, and Sontheimer showed 5♥5♣ for a turned set. Davies flashed ace-ten as his cards hit the felt.

Matthias Eibinger just took a small pot from Cary Katz, only to lose a bigger one on a bluff to Justin Bonomo on the following hand.

Katz opened for 13,000 in the lojack seat on the first hand and Eibinger called from the small blind. They both checked the 5♥9♠Q♣ flop and Eibinger took down the small pot with a bet of 13,000 on the K♦ turn.

Eibinger limped in from the small blind on the following hand and Bonomo checked in the big blind. Then both players checked the 2♠8♣Q♣ flop. Eibinger stabbed for 25,000 on the J♣ turn as Bonomo studied him closely. Bonomo called.

Eibinger fired another 45,000 on the 6♦ river a Bonomo thought briefly before calling once more. Eibinger showed a pure bluff with 5♠3♣ and Bonomo took the pot with J♦7♣ for a pair of jacks.

Bonomo moves up to 740,000 with the win. Eibinger slides to 255,000. –JK

1:30pm: Breaking news: Petrangelo great at poker

Nick Petrangelo’s radar is right on today.

He opened to 15,000 only for Daniel Negreanu to three-bet to 50,000. Back to Petrangelo, he sensed something.

“I just feel you have it,” he told Negreanu. “I’m making a crazy fold. I’m folding king-jack suited.”

His cards hit the muck.

“I always have it, Nick,” Negreanu replied, and showed K♠K♣. He also said he had pocket kings the previous hand too.

“I just had a spooky feeling,” said Petrangelo. –JS

1:20pm: Thorel catches Pollak
Level 9 – Blinds 3,000/6,000 (BB ante 6,000)

Jean-Noel Thorel’s day has kicked off well. He just took down a decent pot, catching Benjamin Pollak with his hands in the cookie jar.

Thorel began the hand opening to 12,000 and Pollak was his only caller. They saw a 4♥3♣9♣ flop on which Thorel continued for 12,000. Call.

The A♥ turn prompted Thorel to check, and Pollak seized the betting lead for 23,000. Thorel didn’t budge though, and when the Q♥ river landed he checked again.

Pollak took his time before leading out for 65,000. Thorel called quickly, and this was bad news for Pollak who shook his head in disappointment, suggesting he didn’t have much. Thorel revealed A♦K♦ for top pair, and Pollak mucked with a sigh.

He’s down to 315,000 now, while Thorel climbs to 650,000. –JS

The long walk across the Imperial Ballroom brought me to Rainer Kempe’s table just as the TV cameras were swarming to see the German pro get all-in with Q♣9♣ on a 3♣8♣7♦J♠ board. He was looking to hit a ten to make a queen-high straight, which would have beaten Greg Jensen’s turned jack-high straight with T♦9♦. Alas, the river was the 3♣ and Kempe’s day ended much earlier than he would have liked.

Jensen is now playing around 780,000. –JK

12:55pm: Chit chat with Negreanu
Level 9 – Blinds 3,000/6,000 (BB ante 6,000)

“How much are we making it?” Daniel Negreanu asked his table. “13,000? Is that what everyone’s doing?”

Chris Kruk gave him the nod of approval, and Negreanu opened to 13,000.

It folded to Nick Petrangelo in the big blind, and he looked interested.

“What do you wanna do?” Negreanu asked him. “Probably call,” Petrangelo replied.

“OK, just don’t make it like, 50,000 or anything,” said Negreanu, before Petrangelo made the call.

The dealer fanned an A♥2♦2♥ flop, and it checked to Negreanu. “I’m….going to bet the minimum,” he said, tossing in 6,000. Petrangelo check-raised it to 20,000 though, and Negreanu folded.

“You had Q♠J♠,” guessed Jason Koon. “Nope. But I did have a queen,” Negreanu confirmed. –JS

12:45pm: Foxen starts as he means to go on

Alex Foxen has picked up some chips early on through Talal Shakerchi.

The latter had opened from the +1 seat and it folded around to the big blind of Foxen. He defended, bringing a 2♠Q♦9♣ flop. It checked to Shakerchi and he continued for 16,000, and Foxen stuck around.

The 6♣ turn brought another check from Foxen, and another bet from Shakerchi. He made it 31,000 to see a river. Call.

The J♦ completed the board and when Foxen checked a third time Shakerchi checked it back. Foxen tabled K♠9♥ for a pair of nines, which was good when Shakerchi mucked.

Andras Nemeth is off to a good start today after taking a pot off Chris Kruk.

Kruk opened for 13,000 under the gun — the third player in a row to do so to start the day — and Nemeth called in the big blind. Nemeth check-called 14,000 on the 6♦4♦3♥ flop, bringing the A♠ on the turn. He check-called another 31,000 on the A♠ turn and then both players checked the T♠ river. Nemeth showed A♣3♣ for a turned pair of aces and Kruk mucked.

Nemeth climbs to 210,000 with the win, while Kruk dips slightly to 530,000. –JK

The chip bags are open and the players are taking their seats for Day 2. But do we have any new faces in the field?

Not new exactly, but Daniel Negreanu has re-entered for a fresh 250,000 stack.

Stephen Chidwick busted at the very end of the night yesterday, and he’s also fired a second bullet.

Good morning from the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas, where we’re all set to begin Day 2 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller.

While Ramon Colillas was busy taking down the PSPC title and $5.1 million yesterday, 43 players gathered here on the sidelines to battle it out against some of the very best of their peers. They combined for another 13 re-entries, helping push this year’s total number entries past last year’s 48. We expect to see several more entries as registration remains open through the start of play today.

Last month’s EPT Prague €10K High Roller champ, Henrik Hecklen, finished Day 1 of this tournament with the chip lead. He played several massive pots and was the first player to top 1 million chips. He ended play with a total of 1.264 million, trailed most closely by Team PokerStars Pro Igor Kurganov (1.05 million) and Steve O’Dwyer (889,000).

Cards get in the air at 12:30pm. The plan for today is to play down to 6-8 players and then break for the night. There’s no way to know exactly how long that will take, but we’ll be here with you from start to finish. –JK
