Day 1b has begun here in the Portomaso Casino with the field surpassing 650 players meaning the event is already the biggest ever for an IPT, larger than the 1,010 at IPT San Remo back in Season 6. Today the tournament is already split between two floors on levels five (ground floor) and six with those on the former sharing the room with the 14 players coming back for Day 2 of the €25,000 High Roller event.
Registration will be open until the break after the end of level four (roughly 4.30pm CET) so there’s currently no telling how big this event will get between now and then. Expecting the numbers to rocket seems to be safe bet.
Among those playing today is Team PokerStars Pro Julian Brecard, the Frenchman having been in Malta to film reality poker series La Maison du Bluff. Other people playing today include EPT finalists Ludovic Geilich (EPT10 London, 4th – £193,340) and Morten Mortensen (EPT7 Snowfest, 8th – €35,000), UKIPT winner Sergio Aido, online wunderkind Patrick Leonard, Mannig Loeser and Jamila von Perger.
IPT Malta update:
– Players start today with 25,000 in chips
– Registration is open until the end of level four
– There is a 75-minute dinner break at the end of level six, (approximately 6.30pm CET)
– A total of ten levels will be played
