Home / Uncategorized / IPT Malta: No change in leaders as side events begin

Berardino Palmieri continues to hold the chip lead as play heads into the final level. The Italian player, who has no live results to speak of, has 220,000 and is just ahead of Kilian Kramer – the German has 165,000 and is still in second place. Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree (18,000) remains involved but she, like PokerStars sponsored player Dominik Panka (20,000) and fellow EPT winner Arnaud Mattern (35,000), have things to do as all of them are below average in chips.

EPT winner Arnaud Mattern still grinding away

There are now less than 200 remaining players still in Day 1a, some of the recent eliminations include Marc Macdonnell, Joep Raemaekers, Ami Barer, Guillaume Diaz, Luigi Knoppers, Joao Simao, Christopher Frank, former WSOP Main Event runner-up Jesse Sylvia, FPS Deauville winner Bart Lybaert and IPT San Remo Sergio Castelluccio.

While the IPT continues into the last two levels of the day, there are two other events that have started this evening. The first is the €300 IPT Malta Cup which has a single re-entry and three start days, at the momet there are 135 players in this event so far including Sofia Lovgren and Ronan Monfort. Expect the fields for Day 1b tomorrow and 1c on Friday to be even bigger with a potential 1,000 entries possible.

It’s still a full house here in Malta as two more events quickly gather sizeable fields

The second event which also began tonight is Event #7 the €1,000 Turbo which already has over 70 runners including Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel. Other players who have also got involved in this even include EPT London runner-up Georgios Karakousis, EPT Dortmund runner-up Cristiano Blanco, Steven van Zadelhoff (who just busted the IPT Main Event), UKIPT winner Sergio Aido, FPS Deauville finalist (and non-stop winner of almost everything in South America) Ivan Luca, bracelet winner Simeon Naydenov and Estrellas runner-up Alex Goulder. It’s incredibly stacked for a nightly tournament.

IPT Malta update:

– 189 players are left from the 378 who entered today.
– Players are just finishing off level 9
– One more level to go
– Berardino Palmieri still leads
