There’s a total of 513 players returning for Day 2 of IPT Malta today including Team PokerStars Pros Jan Heitmann (66,100) and the twins Christophe (61,600) and Matthias (18,800) De Meulder. Just 191 spots will be paid a minimum of €1,740 with €221,200 for the winner. The tournament has suffered a slight delay in getting everyone into the building and will getting underway at around 12.25pm CET.
The chip leader is Berardino Palmieri from Day 1a with 340,800 ahead of Do Chung Tran (278,000) and Guy Bachar (253,700). Other notables include Griffin Benger (143,600), Joni Jouhkimainen (141,300), Ludovic Geilich (140,000) and Leo McClean (134,400).
Today will be a shorter than usual day (owing to the fact this tournament has a day more than the usual schedule for PokerStars’ regional tours) with only six levels being played. I’ll be switching to a traditional reporting style which should be in the latter half of the day (the bubble usually tends to burst in levels 14 or 15 – usually).
Today also see the €25k High Roller final table and Day 1c of the €300 IPT Malta Cup as well as five other events. A €500 NL Deepstack Turbo starts at noon and at 3pm, there is a €200 PLO High/Low Deepstack Turbo. Flipout fun starts at 6.15pm with three €100 tourneys kicking off every half an hour. There is also the first Midnight Hyperturbos with a €500 NL event. Plus, the official draw for this weekend’s inaugural Global Poker Masters event is at the Hilton Malta at 7pm.
