The EPT Malta Festival is getting underway with IPT Malta, the first event of Season 7 of the Italian Poker Tour, leading the way. This is the first time the IPT has linked up with the EPT festival and the first time the IPT has been in Malta since Season 2. There is a total of 69 events being played over the next 11 days with tournament buy-ins ranging from €100 to €25,000.
Today, the Day 1a field is already bigger than the last time the IPT was in Malta back in Season 2. Then Giacomo Loccarini defeated a field of 237 players (with a €2,000 buy-in) to win this event for €122,000. So 250 players having sat down and the numbers expected to increase with registration open until the end of Level 4. This includes 25 qualifiers who won their seats last night, including Ivan Luca who made the final table of FPS Deauville last month.
This isn’t the only big event going on today, the €25,000 High Roller begins at 1pm local time while for those who may not wish to stump up five figures in cash, there is the €300 IPT Malta Cup at 8pm this evening.
