Play has reached the end of Level 19 in the Latin American Poker Tour Peru Main Event, and with a little over an hour-and-a-half done the field has been whittled from 32 to 21.

Things are starting to getting serious around here, and quickly. In another words, this isn’t just some Mickey Mouse game they’re playing.

Come along, let’s sing the song, and join the jamboree!
Ruben Suarez of Venezuela departed in 27th after a hand versus Ivan Marquez. Suarez had survived one all-in already, but on the next his Jâ™  10â™  couldn’t catch up to Yvan Marquez’s pocket nines and his tournament run was halted.

Jairo Nunez of Colombia was the next to go after running Q♣ 10â™  into Helio Neves’s A♥ A♣ , taking 26th.

Two-time LAPT champion Fabian Ortiz of Argentina was next eliminated in 25th, his K♣ 3â™  unable to best Ricardo Chauriye’s A♣ 10â™  . Suarez, Nunez, and Ortiz each earned $6,380 for their finishes.

Then Neves earned another knockout, using pocket queens to best Bulgarian Ivanov Mladen’s Qâ™  10â™  to send the latter away in 24th. Neves began the day in 30th position out of 32, but doubled up early, picked up aces on two different occasions to win big pots, then came the Mladen knockout.

Emboldened by that start, we just watched Neves four-bet and force a fold, then show 9♥ 6♣ as he collected another pot. He’s up over 500,000 now.

Ivan Marquez of Venezuela next joined the group running out of chips early on Day 3, finishing 23rd after being unable to connect with A♣ K♥ versus Patricio Rojas’s J♥ J♦

Raul Palma then followed in 22nd, like Mladen and Marquez picking up $7,180, before the level concluded — and took his Mickey Mouse card protector (pictured above) with him.

Who’s the leader of the club of remaining players? Neves is challenging for that distinction, but right now start-of-day leader Herrera is maintaining a leading stack still with about 580,000.
