Home / Uncategorized / PokerStars Festival Bucharest: Day 3 underway as we play down to final table

The Poker Room here at the JW Marriot is empty. For the first time since the Festival kicked off, just a handful of tables have bums in seats as play gets underway for Day 3 of the PokerStars Festival Main Event.

All quiet at the Marriot…but not for long

It’s crunch time for the remaining 46 players, as we play down to a final table today. At close of play yesterday just 58 remained from the 736 that signed up to take their shot at the €133,400 first place prize.

Who’s still in?

Well it was Nandor Solyom who ended yesterday’s proceedings as the chip-leader, bagging and tagging 1.46 million. He is closely followed by Daniel Nietrzebka from Poland on 1.43 million and Yuriy Kudrynskyy, who sits on a little further behind on 805,000. In terms of the big names, Sam ‘The Squid’ Grafton is still alive and hoping for a deep run here in the Romanian capital.

A full recap of all the action from Day 2 can be found here, and all the other info you need to know below:

The Squid’s happy enough

And while the room is quiet for now, it won’t be for long.

The final day of the €2,200 High Roller is also set to kick off shortly, where action will play down to a winner. Leading the way in that one is Georges Yazbeck from Lebanon, who sits on 130,800 chips. The 52-year old dentist’s biggest cash to date came during the EPT5 Monte Carlo stop, where he spun up his €2,000 side event entry into a €201,00 victory.

He’ll be joined by a handful of notable players who survived yesterday’s shenanigans, including Niko Koop (60,500), Marc Radgen (54,600), Alexandru Papazian (45,000) and Andreas Klatt (17,900).

That’s more like it

But that’s not it. Day 1B of the Bucharest Cup is also set to draw in the locals after all seats were sold out for Day 1A yesterday. We’re expecting big crowds for that so if you want to play, we suggest you get down here pronto.

Stay tuned as we bring you updates from the Main Event, High Roller and side events throughout the day – and make sure to follow our friends over at PokerNews for live updates too.
