There was a delicious aroma wafting around the Casino Schenefeld poker room this morning upon arrival. One that instantly reminded us we’d yet to eat anything all day. Cue hundreds of stomachs beginning to growl.
Replacing the standard player’s party here at PokerStars Festival Hamburg was a ‘player’s brunch’, where arriving runners were greeted by an enormous food platter, and two chefs on hand to cook up irresistible crepes and omelettes.
There were also games set up, including Mikado and piggy roulette. Clearly I’ve come up with that name myself as I don’t know what the correct name would be. Essentially, each player has a pig on the roulette felt, then they spin the wheel and if the ball lands in a number on your row you get to move your pig forward. The winner is the first pig to reach the other side.
Gambling and stuffed animals – together at last.
Play is well under way on Day 1C of the Main Event, and although they’ve now stopped the brunch festivities continued for three levels into play. After all, we wouldn’t want the late reggers to miss out on a bit of free grub.
Everyone who enters the Main Event also receives a bluetooth beanie hat – we told you all about those back at the Dublin stop in September.
Stomachs are full, heads are warm, and the piggies are all safely over on the other side. It’s just poker from here on.
