Home / Uncategorized / PokerStars Festival Hamburg: Speeding things up on Day 1C/D

Happy Friday everyone. The weekend is almost here.

Of course, when you’re covering a poker tournament, the weekend usually means you’re approaching the end. We now have just three days to get the PokerStars Festival Main Event wrapped up, and we’re still on the Day 1s. Time to speed things up!

Today it’s Day 1C, and it comes with shorter levels than the previous two starting flights. The field will be grinding through 12 30-minute levels instead of the standard 40, meaning that with play starting at 1pm they’ll be done and dusted by 7:30pm (including two 15-minute breaks).

Another busy day ahead

The action won’t stop there though.

At 8pm we’ll be having the ever-popular ‘hyper-turbo’ re-entry flight (or Day 1D) with 12 20-minute levels. It’s unique, as only players who have already played and busted one of the other starting flights are eligible to enter. That means there will be a lot of familiar faces from earlier this week in the action once again.

Will the €500,000 prize pool guarantee be beaten though? It’s too early to tell, but it’s certainly looking likely. There’s already a big queue forming for players waiting to get their 1C seat draw.

Among them is PokerStars Team Online’s Felix “xflixx” Schneiders. The German pro is well known around these parts, and turned up at the casino yesterday a little earlier than expected. That gave us a chance to have a catch up, so check back in later for that interview.

Polish Team Pro Marcin Horecki will also be getting in the action today, so we’ll keep an eye on his progress. Other recognisable names here today include 2015 Eureka Hamburg Main Event champion Tom Holke, and Mike Hill – aka ‘Da Bookie’.

The player they’re all chasing right now is Rudolf Köster, who ended Day 1A with a massive stack of 258,000 (the starting stack is 30,000). Nobody could top that yesterday on Day 1B, with the biggest stacks belonging to Matthias Rauscher (241,000), Mohammad Qasim (232,700), Michal Lubas (222,000), and Maximilian Hornung (221,400).
