Monday evening gave 2016 SCOOP players a chance to scoop pots against some of the best players in the world. Event #33-H was a $2,100 Stud Hi/Lo tournament and attracted a small but talented field of pros rock grinding their way to a SCOOP title.

The big buy-in tournament drew 111 players to the split pot game for a $222,000 prize pool that would be split up between the last two tables. The tournament paused at the end of Level 20 as they hit the final table eight with a lineup of big names headlined by Team Pokerstars’ Jason Mercier.

The three-time WSOP bracelet winner came into the event with 2 WCOOP and 4 SCOOP titles and once again in contention for the SCOOP Player of the Series. He wasn’t the only one trying to win top player honors at the final table, Mercier had to deal with Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich (one WCOOP and two SCOOPs), Vladimir ‘vovtroy’ Troyanovskiy (2014 SCOOP $2K Stud winner), krakukra (2015 WCOOP $10,000 8-Game champion), and fellow WSOP bracelet winner Marco “NoraFlum” Johnson (two WCOOPs and one SCOOP).

A stellar lineup worthy of the big score and tough competition.

Urbanovich shoves first hand, eliminated in 8th

Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich returned to the final table with less than two big bets and jammed them on the first hand back. krakukra completed showing 6â™  , Mercier called with A♣ , Urbranovich raised it up with A♥ , and the other two called.

Urbanovich put in his last 4,180 with A♥ 9♦ with Mercier’s A♣ K♦ and krakukra’s 6â™  2♣ coming along. Mercier fired bets and krakukra called on 5th and 6th before they both checked the river.

Mercier: (7♦ 6♦ )A♣ K♦ 4♥ Kâ™  (6♦ ) – two pair kings and sixes
krakukra: (4♦ 3â™  )6â™  2♣ Q♥ 3♥ (2♦ ) – two pair threes and deuces
Urbanovich: Hand mucked

Urbanovich tossed his hand away and hit the rail in 8th while Mercier scooped the pot when krakukra couldn’t catch his low on the last three streets.

Game, set, and match as Kournikova eliminated in 7th

While the rest of the table was enjoying a pleasant chat about a previous hand, Kournikova was busy building a big pot with Mercier and LadyDoDo01. Mercier was the bring-in with 2♦ , Kournikova completed with A♥ , LadyDoDo91 called with 5♥ , and Mercier called to see 4th street.

Kournikova led out for 6,000 with A♥ J♣ and only LadyDoDo91 came along with 5♥ J♥ then it was another bet/call between the two with Kournikova’s A♥ J♣ Q♣ versus 5♥ J♥ 6â™  . Kournikova put out a big bet with A♥ J♣ Q♣ Qâ™  against 5♥ J♥ 6â™  8♦ before they both checked 7th street.

LadyDoDo91 tabled (7♣ 5♠ )5♥ J♥ 6♠ 8♦ (4♥ ) for a straight to the eight and an 8-7 low to scoop the pot and drop Kournikova down to 2,000. Those went in the middle on the next hand and Kournikova was knocked out in 7th place.

Mercier falls short of title, eliminated in 6th

Poker legend Jason Mercier was up and down at the final table before he took a tough one right before the first break. Mercier fired bets on 4th and 5th streets showing 6♣ 4♣ 4♠ and RunGodlike came along with 7♠ Q♠ K♠ before Mercier slowed down on 6th after catching the 9♦ . He called a big bet from RunGodlike who picked up 3♠ and Mercier check/called on 7th.

RunGodlike tabled (6â™  8♣ )7â™  Qâ™  Kâ™  3â™  (Jâ™  ) for the king-high flush, no low to get a mucked hand from the WSOP champ. That left Mercier with less than 10,000 during the break and he was gone three hands later when his trip eights (9♣ 8â™  )8♥ Q♥ 8♣ 3♣ (4♥ ) was no good against krakukra’s six-high straight/6-5 low (2♦ 3♥ )4â™  6♣ 4♦ 5♥ (3â™  ).

LadyDoDo91 can’t float a boat, eliminated in 5th

LadyDoDo91 was sitting with a very short stack and only two big bets after losing a big hand against Johnson then ran his last big one into him again with a big buried pair.

They were heads-up and capped the betting before LadyDoDo91 called all-in with (J♣ J♥ )2♦ 9♣ versus Johnson’s (10â™  10♣ )K♦ A♥ . The superior buried pair was looking good until Johnson ran 4♣ 10♦ 4♦ to hit trip tens on 6th and boat up on 7th. LadyDoDo91 never improved and hit the rail in 5th place for $14,430.

LadyDoDo91: (J♣ J♥ )2♦ 9♣ Qâ™  4♥ (Aâ™  ) – pair of jacks
Johnson: (10â™  10♣ )K♦ A♥ 4♣ 10♦ (4♦ ) – full house tens full of fours

Troyanovskiy runs out of time, eliminated in 4th

The four remaining players spent a long time trading chips back and forth, a bunch of big chops and scoops. Vladimir ‘vovtroy’ Troyanovskiy was the odd man out with Johnson well out in front and his other two opponents essentially tied.

He was three-handed against Johnson and RunGodlike when he called all-in on 4th street showing (X-X)10♣ 3♥ . The other two stuck around until all the cards were out and RunGodLike scooped with two pair, no one could table a low, and Troyanovskiy was shipped out in 4th place.

Johnson: (7♥ 2♥ )3♣ 5♦ 10♦ 7â™  (Jâ™  ) – pair of sevens
RunGodlike: (9♦ 9â™  )5♣ Kâ™  K♣ 2♦ (J♥ ) – two pair kings and nines

krakukra can’t catch, eliminated in 3rd

krakukra kept pushing the action in an attempt to catch up to his opponents and found a good hand on 4th street to take into battle. He had all his chips in the middle against Johnson with an open-ended straight draw/low draw (4♣ 3♠ )5♦ 6♣ against the (3♥ 4♠ )A♦ Q♥ of Johnson.

There were a ton of cards left in the deck to help krakukra but he missed his straight and low draws while Johnson paired his queen on 5th. That was good enough to scoop the pot and send krakukra out in 3rd place.

krakukra: (4♣ 3â™  )5♦ 6♣ J♥ 5♥ (9â™  ) – pair of fives
Johnson: (3♥ 4â™  )A♦ Q♥ Q♦ 10♣ (Kâ™  ) – pair of queens

Seat 4: Marco “NoraFlum” Johnson (720,899 in chips)
Seat 8: RunGodlike (389,101 in chips)

RunGodlike defeats Johnson to earn Event #33-H title

Johnson began heads-up play with a healthy chip lead but RunGodlike went on the heater he needed to win the title. Without getting all his chips in, RunGodlike chipped away at the lead and soon had Johnson down big.

Johnson hit a few stay-alive double ups late but was soon down to only 22K, a little over one big bet. He put those all-in with (J♣ 9♠ )10♠ and RunGodlike came along with (8♦ K♣ )10♥ . They each paired on 4th street but RunGodlike tripped up his eights on 5th street to take the lead. Johnson picked up an open-ended straight draw on 6th street but blanked 7th to exit in 2nd place.

Johnson: shows (J♣ 9â™  )10â™  9♥ 2♣ 8♣ (2â™  ) – two pair nines and deuces
RunGodlike: shows (8♦ K♣ )10♥ 8â™  8♥ 4♣ (7â™  ) – trip eights

It was a fantastic final table full of top players and great action. Johnson fell short of earning his fourth career COOP title while RunGodlike earned his first major title after several close calls.
