LEX VELDHUIS WINS STADIUM SERIES TITLE ($96K)

Twitch poker doesn’t get more exciting than tuning in to the biggest poker streamer of them all and watching them go all the way to win just shy of six-figures and a title in the inaugural Stadium Series.

That’s exactly what many of us did on Sunday through Monday.

Lex navigated his way through a field of 243 entries to win the $2,100 buy-in Heat 16, earning himself $96,143 (his largest ever score on stream).

As it was a $2K, this was no easy feat. Lex went to battle with some of the best in the world including Mike “SirWatts” Watson (runner up), Ivan “Negriin” Luca (fifth) and Pablo “pabritz” Brito Silva (sixth).

Here’s the moment he took it down.

Make no mistake, this was a special stream.

If that wasn’t enough, Lex would also go on to finish second in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for an additional $21K.

FINTAN ALSO COMES CLOSE TO A TITLE

Having won his first Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title just a couple of months back, Fintan “easywithaces” Hand almost added a Stadium Series trophy to his cabinet Wednesday night.

Fintan would ultimately finish in third place in Heat 18-H: $2,100, $500K Gtd, good for $57K and his second-largest career score to date.

The event started about as well as it could have, with Fintan scoring an early double up.

A huge cooler three-handed took most of his stack.

And it all came to an end with a particularly brutal river decision.

ODDS ON A SEVEN CARD STRAIGHT FLUSH?

The odds on a straight flush are 72,192 to 1.

But what about a seven-card straight flush?

CLIPS OF THE WEEK

It’s not Twitch, but who cares. This was too good not to share.

I didn’t like that at all.

The sickest way to make Day 2.

Always coming seven.

Taking names, taking holes, and taking souls. Snapping necks and cashing cheques.

Definitely not the result I was expecting.

That might be my greatest ever call on stream.

ONES TO WATCH

Anthony “Hookz” Kalanj – www.twitch.tv/anthonykala

A little more than 18 months ago, Anthony “Hookz” Kalanj was the only Canadian to make the final table of the Sunday Million, earning $37,964.23 for fifth place. An unfortunate ending, but at least he now has a Stadium Series title to make up for it.

Kalanj won the $109 buy-in Stadium Series Weekly Final this week, rising from seventh in chips overnight to claim the title.

Anthony “hookz” Kalanj ftw

What’s even better is that Kalanj has recently taken to streaming his poker exploits live on Twitch, which meant viewers got to watch it all. That included the part when Kalanj agreed a heads-up against “CoolerAHAH” of Malta before the Canadian sealed the deal. “Champ is here!” he said. Kalanj banked $175,662.60, plus a $5,200 buy-in to the Stadium Series Grand Final. CoolerAHAH won $160,662.60.

Cash4_king – www.twitch.tv/cash4king

We were introduced to Cash4_king’s stream this week by another streamer who has made an appearance in this blog, RichyRob.

With his charity streams and infectious laugh, he’s well worth a follow.
