Here you can watch Lex Veldhuis, Nick Walsh, Sam Grafton, Griffin Benger, Benjamin Spragg, James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton discuss some of the most exciting spots in online Poker, from PokerStars Stadium Series.

Take a look at the video below.

Killer pre-flop play: Defending the big blind

“You’re always going for my big blind, aren’t you?”

You’ll hear this in every poker room. Some players take it personally when you raise into their big blind, so they’ll always defend it–even with garbage hands–out of sheer anger.

On the flip side, some players almost never defend their big blind unless A) they’re getting something like 6:1 odds, or B) they have a playable hand like a pair or broadway cards.

While the player who always folds saves chips in the short term, the player always defending out of spite is probably making more money in the long run.

This week, PokerStars School’s Pete Clarke turns his attention towards playing from the big blind.

“One of the most chronic leaks beginners suffer from is being too tight out of the big blind. Calling out of the big blind is not supposed to be comfortable or exciting. It is a slog – a battle in which your primary aim with most hands is to lose money, but to lose less money than you would by folding pre-flop.”

We reach the conclusion of Dave “TheLangolier” Roemer’s analysis of hands played by a PokerStars School student in 10NL Zoom.

    Range Wars: Part IV

Roemer’s Range Wars series continued this week, looking at a specific hand which demonstrates how thinking in terms of ranges instead of your actual holding can lead to very different conclusions.
