Five things from the week on PokerStars.

Malta now underway

The EPT Malta festival is finally underway, the penultimate event before the EPT becomes the PokerStars Championship.

Play began earlier this week with the €10,000 Hold’em event, which concluded yesterday. Meanwhile the last ever IPT Main Event (before it joins the PokerStars festival circuit) is in full swing.

Today the €25,000 high roller gets started, with live updates along with those from the IPT Main Event, on the PokerStars Blog. You can find a full breakdown of all the coverage coming up from Malta by clicking here.

The latest episode of EPTNotLive

“It’s a packed podcast this week, with prizes galore. James and Joe are giving away satellite tickets for the first ever PokerStars Championship in the Bahamas. There are a couple of competitions, one of them involving pyjamas!

“Chris Moneymaker joins the boys to talk about his Hall of Fame nomination, #NJCOOP and the upcoming PokerStars Festival in New Jersey. And, as has become tradition, he’s forced to play a round of ‘Is That Your Real Name?’

James discusses his accidental photo-bombing incident at the Quintessentially Foundation Poker Night, there’s a recap of the EPT 12 Dublin Main Event final table highlights show (now available to watch at PokerStars.tv), and a preview of EPT 13 Malta, including a rundown of the freerolls and Bounty Bonus tournaments available to play during the seven days of streaming on #EPTLive.

“Finally, in ‘Superfan vs Stapes’, Ethan Westhead takes on Joe in a game called ‘Knowie Your Bowie’. After listening to #EPTNotLive, please watch #EPTLive from Malta, Sunday 23rd – Saturday 29th October at PokerStars.tv/live”

Help a great cause

Earlier this week we wrote about a great cause that PokerStars is happy to support for a second year.

Lads Night In is a great way for men, and women, to help raise money to fight prostate cancer in the UK. For poker players it’s perfect. All you need to do is play poker, in a home game with friends or family, and donate some or all of the winnings to Prostate Cancer UK.

Prostate cancer is fast becoming the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, something Prostate Cancer UK is tackling head on in their work. Find out more about them, and how to take part (it’s not too late), by clicking here.

The new guy

We’ve been trying something a little different on the PokerStars Blog over the past couple of weeks, with some audio stories recorded at EPT Barcelona. The latest, titled “the new guy” is a great story of a player taking part in his first EPT Main Event. Brad Willis starts by talking to Dan Jones as play starts, and at each break as the tournament progresses. It’s a hugely enjoyable way to spend 17 minutes. Click here to listen.

Swapping boots for hockey sticks

How exactly would Premier League footballers fair on the hockey pitch against a gold medal winning keeper?

That what members of Leicester City FC set out to do recently, taking on Team GB gold medal winning hockey players Helen Richardson-Walsh and Maddie Hinch.

The results were a lot of fun, as you can see form the video below.

That’s all for this week. Good luck at the tables this weekend. Tweet us @PokerStarsBlog.
