Good weekends for Kurganov, Blom, and Brammer

ARGENTINA’S IVAN “ivanvilchez8” VILCHEZ WINS SUNDAY MILLION FOR $153K

Despite the High Roller Club bringing in the big names and big buy-ins, it was still the $215 SUNDAY MILLION which produced the weekend’s biggest winner.

This week that player is Argentina’s Ivan “ivanvilchez8” Vilchez, who outlasted a 5,695-strong field to win the whole thing outright for $153,830. The runner-up was Finland’s “notbacked”, who banked $107,949 for their efforts. If they weren’t backed before, there’s definitely no need for it now.

This result is Vilchez’s second six-figure score, with the first coming in 2016. He’s also won the Super Tuesday for $92K (2016), and has enjoyed a long list of five-figure cashes throughout his career.

HIGH ROLLER CLUB RESULTS

The first week of the popular High Roller Club came to an end yesterday, with some notable names among the winners.

Chris Brammer

The UK’s Chris “NigDawG” Brammer came out on top of the $530 Sunday 500, defeating a field of 301 to bank $28,313. PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov finished 10th in that one, just missing out on the final table but securing a $2,272 cash.

Igor Kurganov

Kurganov would have another close call, coming third in the $2,100 Sunday HR for $27,728. That event attracted 102 of the game’s best, with Sweden’s “anteen” taking it down for $47,008. Arguably the most famous Swedish player, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, finished in second place for $36,103.

Viktor Blom

Finland’s Olli “erä_koira” Ikonen would emerge victorious in the $530 Daily Supersonic for $14,331, bringing his total online earnings up to $6.34 million.

ANDRES REISQUEZ DEFEATS MONEYMAKER HEADS-UP FOR $14K AND PLATINUM PASS

Things got pretty weird over at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood this weekend. Chris Moneymaker had made it to heads-up play on his own $86 tour, but as he can’t win a Platinum Pass (he’s already playing), it was immediately awarded to his opponent, AndrĂ©s Risquez.

Moneymaker and Risquez

Risquez would ultimately win the whole thing anyway for $14,000!

Read all about the final table and Risquez’s victory right here.

VIDEO: PLATINUM PASS WINNER KALIDOU SOW ON THE PSPC

You may remember Kalidou Sow from his PokerStars Championship Prague Main Event win, which he immediately followed up a month later by winning the PokerStars Festival London Main Event.

Sow earned himself a Platinum Pass for the latter of those huge wins, and we recently caught up with the Frenchman to find out more about his story and how he’s preparing for the PSPC in January.

Check out the video below.
