These five stories came to mind immediately this week, which goes someway to describing what has been a busy week for news on the Blog. Click through the links below for more details of each story.

Championship Cash Challenge

If you’re going to start the week well you may as well announce details of the newest chance for PokerStars players not only to appear on television, but to win big in our new Championship Cash Challenge.

In much the same way as the Big Game that came before it, the Championship Cash Challenge will pit players up against the pros in a high stakes cash game. We’ll stake you. You just have to survive 150 hands. Any profit after that is yours to keep. So as you can see the rewards are there for the taking.

We’re excited about it. The TV people are excited about it, and we think you will be when you read the details of how you can be one of those lucky players later this year.

Sunday Million winner Twitches his way to title

So things panned out in a kind of fun way in the Sunday Million last weekend. As Brad Willis wrote this week, its winner TheFan83, took the first prize of $122,000, all of which he streamed live on Twitch.

It’s the first time a Sunday Million winner has Twitched their way to the win (at least I think that’s correct), and what’s more he’s a good friend of Team Online’s Felix Schneiders, who put together a video about TheFan83s win. All of which you can read about, and watch, by clicking here.

More from the archive

Not a week passes by without the PokerStars TV people finding something to make your jaw drop, toes curl, or stomach flip from the video archive. This week they’ve done it again with the Top 5 Table Nightmares. Enjoy…

The latest episode of Poker In The Ears

Recent American Poker Awards winner Cate Hill is the guest on this week’s episode of Poker in the Ears. We’ll let the team provide the details…

“Joe is an American Poker Award winner! And he wants everyone to know it. James and Matt help him celebrate his success, as they run though the highlights of last week’s ceremony in Los Angeles.

“Cate Hall was named GPI Female Player of the Year, and delivered a thought-provoking acceptance speech. She’s the guest on this week’s podcast, discussing her controversial comments and reviewing her year on the live poker circuit.

“There’s a new Top 5 (Table Nightmares) now available to watch at PokerStars.tv, so the boys pour over the hands and characters in this countdown. Finally, Joe “Pesci” Romagnano from New York takes on Joe at ‘Empire Strikes Back’ trivia in ‘Superfan vs Stapes’.”

Coming soon…

If you hadn’t already heard March is going to be a busy month for the PokerStars Blog, and for players competing in any of the major events we have scheduled over the next few weeks.

It starts in Rozvadov with the PokerStars Festival next week. As that gets started so too does the next PokerStars Championship in Panama, with both events featuring reports and live coverage on the PokerStars Blog.

But that’s not all.

After Panama comes Macau at the very end of the month, occupying the first week of April with what promises to be memorable event – the first PokerStars Championship played on Asian soil.

But that’s still not all.

Earlier today we announced details of a new series of events designed for the players who might consider Rozvadov, or Panama or Macau to be a step too far. That’s why the PokerStars MEGASTACK events are aimed at grassroots players, providing an excellent training ground for those bigger events.

With low buy-ins and a big starting stack, it’s the kind of value for money event that a lot of small stakes players have been waiting for. What’s more you can qualify for these events on PokerStars too, just as you can for Festivals and Championships.

We like the sound of these, and not just because players get to play at The Hippodrome London, one of the best places to play poker anywhere.

Check out the details here.

That’s it for another week. Send your comments to us on Twitter:
