Home / News / What beats winning a Main Event seat for EPT Prague? An exclusive shot at a Platinum Pass when you get there

Imagine for a moment you’re enjoying your first day in Prague…

You’ve just been on a tour arranged by PokerStars to see the city’s famous sights.

While looking up at the town hall, the astronomical clock in the famous old town, you warmed your hands on a cup of hot mulled wine from the Christmas market (voted one of the ten best in the world), and were driven to distraction by the smell of trdelnik pastry roasting nearby (for a 60Kr you probably caved).

Warmed up, and back at the hotel, you get yourself a drink from the free bar at the PokerStars Christmas party, having dipped into the chocolate fountain, and taken a sneak peek at the free merch you earned as a PokerStars qualifier, handed to you by a special guest.

You find a corner, chat about the next day’s Main Event with people you might only previously have only met online (but who quickly seem like old friends), and consider a second cocktail.

You’re now in the perfect condition to consider your next objective for the trip.

And as you’ll read below, it could extend this winter poker fantasy into a summer one, and a seat worth $30,000 at the PokerStars Players Championship next year.

Because the single Platinum Pass to be won in Prague is not available to everyone.

Exclusive qualifier-only Platinum Pass contest

A Platinum Pass gets you a seat in the PokerStars Players Championship in Barcelona in August 2020

Qualify for EPT Prague, and you’ll automatically be among a small and exclusive group of players eligible to take part in a platinum-coloured bonus opportunity.

You don’t have to be able to calculate bet size, pot size, pot odds, implied odds, or equity to like your chances.

The process is simple.

Make it through to the start of Day 2 of the Main Event, and you’ll be invited to take part in a special game of Crazy Pineapple.

The winner gets the Platinum Pass. That’s it.

It takes about nine minutes.

Best odds to win a Platinum Pass?

It’s random yes, and statistically, even after that second drink you’ll know it’s still a long shot.

But put it this way.

Last year 71 PokerStars qualifiers made it to Day 2 in the Prague Main Event. So back then you’d have a one in 70 chance. This year it might be more. It might be less.

They’re still odds you’re unlikely to find anywhere else between now, and the start of the PSPC in Barcelona next August.

Win a Prague package from €1.10

The tournament room at EPT Prague

EPT Prague Main Event packages include seat, 8 nights’ hotel accommodation and money towards expenses

Of course, to get to this stage, before the Crazy Pineapple, before the player party with the free drinks and chocolate fountain, and before you enjoy the sights and smells of one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals, you need to win your seat.

Luckily, there’s still plenty of opportunity to do that.

Satellites are already in full swing in the PokerStars tournament lobby.

They start at €1.10 with seats guaranteed into bigger satellites (€27 and €530). Those then feed into the Main Event qualifier this Sunday, with five packages guaranteed, each worth €7,200.

Packages include your Main Event seat, eight nights’ hotel accommodation at the Hilton Prague, and €460 towards expenses.

The Christmas cheer is complimentary.

Start qualifying today on PokerStars

So, your first objective is obvious.

You have until Friday 29 November to win a full EPT Prague package on PokerStars.

That’s only three weeks from now, so get yourself registered for a satellite now.

Then, we’ll see you in Prague to talk about that Platinum Pass.

Most likely over a free drink at the Christmas party.

The EPT Prague festival begins on 6 December. Find more details, including the full schedule of events, activities, and the PSPC in 2020, on PokerStarslive.com.
